So our guitar player bought a new video camera.... |
|
and brought it to last Sunday's gig. Our bassist/vocalist and drummer were away, so our old drummer and a monster 7-string bass player I love playing with filled in. (I'm the guy on keys...) Enjoy! ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0B8m-9jN5QTodd in Cheesecurdistan

1. See if he can catch the next drummer's spontaneous human combustion. |

It is pretty odd, isn't it?

3. I gotta have the Leslie. |
|
I can't fit my B-2 or B-3 into my little Kia hatch, but the Nord Electro 2 (with a Korg Triton as a MIDI lower manual) does a pretty good job of emulating the Hammond, and the Leslie really makes it work. Its own simulator isn't bad, but monitor speakers don't push the air like the Leslie does. I'm addicted to my spinnybox! :D Now if someone wants to donate a cargo Chevy Astro...

Yeah, carrying a B3 around is a chore, I used to help move one, and an M3 in another band I was in. It's nice that they have the digital versions now cause I don't think my poor old back could take it anymore.
I love the sound though so I bought an Oberheim OB3-2 midi drawbar module for any keyboard players I work with to use as long as we're in a band together. I'm putting a leslie cab together from a single rotor lesile I salvaged out of a Hammond spinet I used to have in my studio. I know it won't quite stack up to a dual rotor, but it will beat the simulator.

7. I've got a 760 Leslie but it's so huge they often won't let it on stage |
|
It's the size of a refrigerator.
I looked at the Nord but ended up with the Roland VK8-M module 'cause it takes up less room.

8. My 45 in the clip takes up the same floor space |
|
it's just shorter. I've never had an issue with taking the stage with it, then again I don't give anyone the choice. :D I've played exactly two gigs with this band without it...one because my 12AU7 tube fell out and I had no spares, and the other because one of my 6550's shorted and blew a fuse, and I had no spare 6550's or spare fuses. I had to fall back on the Nord's simulator, which really is pretty good, but it doesn't push air like the spinny.
I keep spares now. :D
