Poll question: Kanye West or Taylor Swift?
This is purely based on musical issues. All other factors, including appearance and personalities, should be disregarded.

1. Swift by default.
Kanye is a complete asshole. Did you catch his lame apology? ""It's been extremely difficult. Just dealing with the fact that I hurt someone or took anything away, you know, from a talented artist or from anyone, because I only want to help people..."

How exactly was that dickhead "helping" Taylor Swift by taking a dump on her head in front of millions of viewers nationwide? And what exactly was so great about Beyonce's video, a black and white video with three dancers and nothing else?

Pink almost had it right when she tweeted that Kanye is the biggest piece of shit on Earth. I'd put people like bin Laden and almost every Republican ahead of Kanye, but he certainly has a spot on my list of biggest steaming piles of shit. I'd be very happy to never hear another word or song from that asshole ever again.

4. Sure he's an asshole; but what if he wasn't?
Would you prefer her music to his?

13. I'm sorry, I completely misunderstood...
...in that case, I still would by default, yes, but I'd be more inclined to choose "They're both lame."

2. Both are talented in their genres
I voted Taylor only because I like her style of music more.

3. Taylor makes generic pop country where as Kanye at least tries to be political and creative
Edited on Tue Sep-15-09 11:57 PM by EndersDame
And I Prefer country to hip hop and dont really listen to Kanye. I love Hank Sr. Patsy Cline Dale Watson, Wayne the Train Hancock, Waylon,Willie, Merle Haggard and so on

I remember I thought it was cool that a hip hop artist used some Daft Punk ( Stronger , which is kinda fun and catchy )and that a rapper would recognize the cost of the blood diamonds used for al the bling ( Diamonds are Forever )

I don't think he is a lyrical genius or the voice of a generation In fact I think he is a giant ass but would take him over generic vanilla "country" any day of the week

12. autotune is the worst fucking invention ever.
If you can sing, fucking sing. If you can't, DON'T.

(unless your name is Bob Dylan or Tom Waits or someone like that, who has the songwriting ability to overcome the fact that you ain't a singer)

15. Sad that of the two, cocaine's the one that's illegal.
Not that I'm for legalizing hard drugs, but the Auto-Tune should be banned from the music industry before it does any more harm.

6. I'm not a fan of hip-hop or "vanilla" country
as you so aptly put it.

I find the first annoying before one song is through. The second I can't help tuning out...as if it was a TV commercial.

11. See, I think creativity is overrated

Some look for it so much that they overlook just good old music, which I think Taylor's is. I think it's better done than much of the new mainstream country. Has lyrics that reflect well on the life of a woman her age. The arrangements are also very tasteful, and they fit her vocals.

14. Based purely on music, I gotta go Kanye. That said ...
Taylor Swift has come out with some great country-inflected pop songs. Just not really my thing.

17. Musically, I don't like either of them
Both Kanye West and Taylor Swift (and Beyonce, for that matter) are peddlers of thier own respective brand of generic musical pablum... garbage churned out to capitalize on the disposable incomes of various demographics as determined by record company research.

However, Kanye West's repeated instances of apallingly self-centered chidishness and arrogance weigh against him.

I would love to see his career come to a crashing halt while Taylor Swift's ascends to greater and greater success. I'd like to see Kanye West working in some low-profile job years from now, living paycheck-to-paycheck, bitter with the knowledge that his 'musical' gravy train was derailed by his own foolishness.

So yeah. Taylor Swift, all the way.

Swift is just another teeny-bopper for the tweeners.

Then someone gave him an 8ball of coke and showed him how to use the Autotune in Garage Band.
