If that movie were remade, do you think today's audience would be able to sit through it? And if it were remade, who do you think could pull it off?

1. Some stories should just be appreciated in their original medium. |

It wasn't the story itself that makes that a great novel, it's Hemingway's prose and style that made that book such an international success. I mean, the story is so simple it can be told in one sitting but to go through it in its original form it becomes the classic tale it is. I feel that way about most of his short stories, too. Like "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" or longer works "A Farewell to Arms" and "For Whom the Bell Tolls". It's kind of like asking to make a movie based on a painting my Monet or a sculpture by Rodin or a symphony by Beethoven. I can't imagine any film adaptation doing it any justice.

4. I thought Spencer Tracy did a bang up job. |

Do we have any craggy faced actors that even fit the type? It's hard to say since all the best performances from our older gents involves a long white wig.

6. I didn't think about it until just now, but this is sort of a twist on Moby Dick. |
