Watched "On the Beach" earlier this evening

what a sense of waste, and how dignified the characters are. I don't think that I will be able to hear "Waltzing Matilda" without a sense of foreboding.

2. Astoundingly good movie. And taking nothing away from the film, the novel is even better.

I managed, barely, not to cry at the end of the film. I bawled like a baby after finishing the book.

3. On the one hand, I would like to read the book - as a good book

on the other hand, having now the images of the main characters, their interactions, their commitments and their sad farewells, I don't know if I will be able to.

4. I have to admit that I've never been able to finish the book or the movie.

And it is a genre I like. :shrug:
