What's wrong with "Nadja"? |
|
I enjoy the NTN Trivia game that they run in some restaurants and clubs. A series of 15 multiple-choice trivia-type questions are presented on a TV screen one by one, and you use a game box to enter your answer. After each question, the current totals of all playing at that location are displayed.
The game box lets you choose your own "screen name" of up to six letters that appears on screen with your results. Unsuitable or inappropriate screen names are rejected by the system. My niece, Nadja, tried to use her name as her "screen name" on several recent visits, but the system rejected it each time as unsuitable and would not let her use that name.
I understand why obscene or controversial screen names would be considered inappropriate, but what could possibly be wrong with "Nadja"? We have racked our brains to come up with any basis for this rejection but came up dry. Is "Nadja" a code word for something nefarious that we don't know about? Is there someone by that name that must not be mentioned?
Any ideas?

2. They were smart enough to disallow permutations of "nad"? |
|
But not smart enough to recognize a popular name?
