1. I took ballet and tap when I was around five years old.
I played Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer in the winter recital (tap) and I was one of Mary's little lambs in the spring recital (ballet). Today I couldn't dance my way out of a paper bag. :eyes:

I still have my tap shoes, as well as the little brown velvet Rudolph costume that my mom made for me.

2. I took a ballroom dance class in school
I loved it. Considering going back for lessons at some point, probably in one or more of the Latin styles as those were my favorites.

7. No, but I've thought about doing so.
It seems like a good way to meet people.

10. Took a beginning dance class at a University
Edited on Thu Sep-17-09 05:25 PM by abq e streeter
for the purpose of having generally smoother and more coordinated moves on stage.Thought it'd be more about general body movement, but ended up being mostly ballet oriented and I got to where I couldn't see spending time and money learning pliets...so dropped the course while I could still get a refund...I know, probably still would have been beneficial, but had limited time and resources back then...

11. I took tap, jazz, and ballet for part of sixth grade. I switched to
cheering after that and now coach it as well, but this year the kids want to do hip-hop so I am scrambling to put together a routine they can manage.

13. Only informally.
My uncle has tried to teach me a few steps, but that was some 20 years ago. So the correct answer is probably "No." :)

14. In my heart I am a dancer....
I took dance lessons from the age of three to the age of sixteen- ballet, tap, and jazz. The last four years of lessons I danced 4 days a week 2 hours after school. I loved it, I love it and I can never stop. I also took couple dance lessons in junior high and was on the Saturday local dance tv show in Houston for a year. I never missed an opportunity to go out dancing in my younger years. It is a huge part of who I am- music moves my body and my soul and I highly recommend it. If you have a young daughter it can teach her grace and confidence. I am in my late fifties now and dance by myself all the time. I have seriously considered taking tap lessons again because it is so much fun. When you are dancing with a group and it clicks- it is magical! Sorry for rambling but I can become quite passionate just thinking about it!! Do I love "So You Think You Can Dance"??? Not yes, but hell yes!!!

15. I took Modern Dance in college ...
... mainly because I was interested in performance art at the time. It was fun, but hard work.
