Does your dog watch television?

I've seen a couple of fancy kennels where they put a tv in the dogs room. I always thought this was pretty silly, but tonight when there was a scene with barking dogs in it my dog moved himself right in front of the tv and watched for a few minutes.

When the commercial came on he lost interest and left.

2. I didn't know dogs could SEE television until we got Bella

She loves it. She tries to play with any animals that move (dogs, cats, squirrels, etc) across the screen (got that puppy play bow thing going on really well). But she also just sits and watches whatever we're watching - like she's really into the drama of it all.

She cracks us up especially when there's any 'back and forth' kind of stuff happening and she moves her head to follow the action like a tennis match.

3. yes, and God forbid I change the channel

Our old dog was even worse. He had his routine at nite. He would go upstairs with my wife to watch Nancy Grace and at exactly 9 p.m. he'd come downstairs to watch what I was watching, have a snack, then go upstairs when I went to bed.

4. Watch it?

When one of my programs didnt record this week, I couldnt figure out why, but when I looked everything I had set had been erased and the only programs scheduled to record were Good Dog U and the Westminster Dog Show.

Now I cant even find the remote, so I cant reschedule my shows or change it!

17. That takes a lot of skill.

My dog knows how to lower the car windows when he's riding in the back seat. I think he first did it by accident, and now he tries it every time.

5. My greyhound watches

in fascination when there is something small and fast moving on the screen. She loves to watch Formula 1 racing with my husband. She also seems fascinated by the Geico gecko. The Siberian Husky could care less about the tv. Our whippet however is quite the tv critic and will sometimes sit on the tv remote to change the channel.

6. you have a whippet and a standard greyhound?

How nice, got pictures. We have iggies, one very small and one often mistaken for a whippet because he's on the large side. My wife would love to get a full size greyhound.

And our dogs ignore the TV unless there is a doorbell, then they go nuts.

7. Golden retriever

One time I flipped by a hunting show and he watched the ducks fly off the screen. He would see them at the bottom corner follow them up to the right and off then back to the bottom corner etc etc for about 5 minutes. He saw something:shrug:

8. The dog we had when I was a teen-ager used to howl along with soap opera theme music

especially the kind that had that theater organ sound, like the theme to Search for Tomorrow.

At first we thought that he howled because the overtones hurt his ears, but we experimented and found that he would actually come running from any part of the house to stand in front of the TV, tilt his head, and let loose with "Errrr-raow-raow-raow-raow-raow."

10. My little puppy recently woke up from her nap to bark at Lassie

11. We had a calico cat who did

she would pay rapt attention whenever a nature show with birds came on, here tail swaying quickly back and forth.

12. My dog barked at a cardboard cat which was part of a display

at the pet store. It was pretty funny. Finally he walked up and sniffed it.

13. My JRT barks, growls, and jumps at the TV when any animal is on screen=

dogs, cats, horses, roosters - you name it. I cannot watch Animal Planet at all.

16. My dog was so in to '8 Below' that we had to buy the movie

for hi. When the dogs get hurt he barks at me, wanting me to help them.

18. My dog loves watching TV

If she's in one room watching and sees an animal run off the screen, she then runs into another room with a TV and sees if it went there. She whines while running around the house trying to find the mysterious animal.

Dogs are funny people.
