1. Autechre, "Gantz Graf", 2002. Note the number who have since copied the overall video style. |

3. I'm glad the Arcade Fire made it |
|
But I'm kind of disappointed "Everybody's Changing" got on there for Keane and not "Someplace Only We Know", which was the only song of theirs I really liked.

10. I had to stop listening to "Someplace Only We Know" because |
|
the lead singer would gasp loudly for breath every so often. I think he needs to work on his technique. Good example is at 1:20 in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmXY2MSrguE&feature=PlayList&p=255132538D6624E9&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=27

4. I hate lists like this for a lot of reasons. |

1. 100 is way too big of a number to make a subjective list about anything (especially music). What it really amounts to is the writer picks about 20 songs that have some kind of significance, puts the top 5 or 6 of those in the top 10, then spreads the rest of them throughout the list indiscriminate of where they actually land. That way people have something to debate about.
2. Usually the writer has laughable tastes in music. Seriously, if over 75% of your list of songs that defined the '00s is either pop or pop/punk, you don't know shit about music.
3. Apart from the 20 songs that I mentioned in #1, the rest of the list is completely superfluous. They are just filler with ridiculous justifications.
I could go on and on and on, but it's probably not necessary.

9. I'd say about 10-15 of these songs are worth a damn...the rest is odious garbage. |
|
And of all Coldplay songs, "Yellow"? I mean, come on, at least pick one of their GOOD songs (there are a couple out there) like 'Don't Panic' or 'Politik' And furthermore, there is a lot of good music out there from the 00's that is worth mention, and it doesn't make the list because lists like this are fucking trash.

11. "Defined" is different than "the best of" |
|
The Noughties were defined by a lot of crap music, or good music that was played to death.
This article doesn't pretend that these were the best songs of the period. Just the defining songs. I'm surprised Nick Drake's "Pink Moon" didn't make it on here, even though it's 30+ years old.
