Didn't see that one coming. I thought she was going to "mow down" Joan.
On edit: "The doctors said he'll never golf again."

7. Easily the best ep of the season so far |
|
Roger gets the best lines, and John Slattery delivers them perfectly.
To Harry: "Sit down sissy Mary. You're pale." "It looks like Iwo Jima out there."
And I loved that they showed Joan essentially being a good "doctor" in a crisis, while her husband is not so good a doctor. Greg really, really doesn't deserve Joan.
I also loved the chemistry in the scene between Joan and Don. It didn't feel like sexual chemistry, which is amazing given that they are both such attractive and sexual characters. It just felt like they really liked and respected each other, and that they could have been good friends if they didn't live in a time when such a friendship would have been frowned upon.

12. well, I thought there was a bit more chemistry than that ... |
|
I'm wondering if Joan's thoughts are wandering with the new paradigm in her life .... I was wondering what they were going to do to keep her on the show. No way she would be leaving.

9. They had lawsuits back then, right? I really like how they show corporate culture. |
|
My only concern is that viewers might think that all the bad layers of management being piled up on top of bad decisions at Sterling Cooper is a function of British culture & British corporate incompetence. It's not. It's what all corporations were like as they started to globalize in the 1960s to 70s, but still lacked the communications and information infrastructure to handle such large global bureaucracies.
Anyway, I'm half convinced now that the only reason they ever had Sterling Coo bought out by the Brits is so they could deliver that "Doctors say he'll never golf again" line. Well, that and Ling's reaction to being "promoted" to the Bombay office.

13. I love that they assume the new guy can't do anything |
|
after the accident.
I think this is the first time they've shown 60s attitudes towards the disabled on the show.
