Paris is May - recommendations for location? |
|
My parents may be going to France & Italy for their 45th wedding anniversary in May. Well, it's more like they'll go to Italy for 8-10 days, but want to stop over in Paris for 3-4 days first on the way over.
My parents are both pretty active, but my dad is 67 and my mom is 65 - so, they can do some walking around Paris, but not any sort of long, all day hike around the city.
But, they'd probably want to stay in a nice (3 1/2 to 4 star type, not 5 star) hotel in a convenient location.
Any recommendations?
Thanks

We stayed here, right near the Louvre. It was very cheap--a great deal. We got it through Expedia and it was around $125-150 a night for a studio apt, complete with kitchenette. You can't beat the location--it's literally right across from the street from the Louvre, next to the Comedie Francaise and Palais Royale. A short walk to practically everything that must be seen. http://www.hotelclub.net/hotel.reservations/Citadines_Louvre_Apart_Hotel_Paris.htm

3. You should post this in the Travel group too. Don't overlook the |

2 and 3 star hotels. There are some great ones. Not as fancy but just as nice. After all, your folks are there to sight see and will only be sleeping in these places. French hotels are rated one to 5 stars. We always stayed at 2 or 3 star hotels. They may not have elevators or fancy extras in the rooms but all were clean and comfortable.

4. No need to hike at all in Paris. The Metro goes everywhere. |
|
And it is fast, clean and inexpensive. You have plenty of time to study a map of Paris along with one of the Metro.
