How much is vehicle registration where you live? |
|
Mine just went up $15 so I pay $80 now for a new sticker. I've read some states charge as much as $900 for a sticker. WTF is that true?

1. I don't know all the modifiers |

but age is a big one. The newer it is, the more they charge. At least, that's the case in Texas. My car's 5 years old, and I pay about $64 per year. We also have a separate sticker and charge for safety inspections. Those run about $40.

5. Substantially less than what the government spends providing services for motorists |
|
But just to be in with the in crowd I'll bitch and moan about not getting enough of a subsidy for my lifestyle choices.

9. I never used them when MN offered them, but it was a good service for folks to have. |
|
Thankfully I never needed them, and I can fathom the pros and cons to having the program in place...

6. Permanent tags. Free as long as I own the truck. |
|
In Montana any vehicle over 10 years old is eligible for permanent tags. I think I paid $150.00 for them.

but never a smog check fee, we live in a VERY rural area so we are exempt down here.
It's a lot better than either California or Arizona.
but the REAL kicker of this place is our annual property tax bill is $67. yup, you read that right sixty seven dollars property tax for an acre and an 1335SF mobile home. so technically, his car cost more to register than our house
sweet!

Depends on the age, make, model, ease of repair, vehicle safety rating (5 stars), one's driving record, and a slew of other factors...
