seriesly! She's blonde, stylish, and feeds the feral kitties who live behind my new office.

Of course, all we did was go to the post office and then get salads for lunch.

Then again, she is a coworker.

And she's a staunch Republican and evangelical.

Maybe I'll stick with the good ol' light rail for now... (sigh)

2. That's exactly what I told her!
the only minor quibble is that the 'Vette is silver rather than red. Guess I won't be needing the Prince earworm, anyway...

3. Hey!
How are you finding San Jose??? To your liking? Do you have your own wheels or are you depending on public transport?

If you head south out of SJ just around 10 minutes it is like you are in the countryside - a fantastic weekend ride is south to mission San Juan Baptista - you can walk in Jimmy Stweart and Kim Novak's footsteps there.

When you are settled in and want to see some of SF, lemme know -- summer has finally started here and I love showing off my city! :hi:

4. Mostly to my liking

transport is an issue. Silly me. I thought it was part of the Bay Area. :eyes: The rail seems to go everywhere except shopping 'n' stuff. All but a handful of bus routes down here are useless.

Hadn't considered a run up to The City (again, close to three hours each way). What neighborhood are you in? (I actually know the territory having lived there briefly right after college)

And can't we find Ahh-nuld a new job better suited to his skill set, like greeter at an Indian casino? :eyes:

edit: spelling

re-edit: it would help if I had a reason to make the trek up to the cool grey city of love, such as a meetup (even a minimal one :-) )

12. Hey -- I want in on that mini meetup!
You are so right about the disconnection of SJ mass transit and the city. If they ever build the BART extension it will get a bit easier but it's frustrating to see how hard it is to use mass transit from most of the Bay Area to San Jose. I can't get there in less than 2.5-3 hours on public trans from central Contra Costa in spite of the fact that it's only about an hour's drive. On transit it's also a weird patchwork of different agencies and multiple fares too. Now the city, that's easy because of the BART line.

5. Does she make any efforts to have those feral kitties fixed?
Feeding feral cats contributes to the overpopulation problem.

6. I've been telling her about rescue and spay/neuter programs
they're not socialized at all, so it'd be hard for us to catch them by ourselves.

7. That's the challenge and the proper etiquette to play the game
Harangue her more, please. There are super people working tirelessly in this endeaver and would be pissed to hear someone like your workmate is contributing to undoing their good work.

Used Have-a-heart® traps are not hard to come by on the cheap. Some Humane Societies even loan them for free.

9. Dude.
I wasted years of my life associating with women like that. I even married one.

Take some advice. Walk away. Do it. Now.

14. Republicans are friends, not food.
Oops - wrong movie quote.

Seriously, as you probably learned with this experience, Republicans and evangelicals can be human too. My BIL is one and I love him like a true brother, and he loves me, even though I'm a dyke. ;)

15. Update: She took me home, too!
Of course, she was on her way to a date with some guy she met on match.com... with this kind of batting average, I should go get myself a Washington Natinals replica jersey. :eyes:
