Older DUers - Need help with song titles
Well, any duers actually, but I am looking for titles pre-Disco

(you know, when the music died - LOL - HEY, it was a joke, don't get testy!!)

Anyway, I am trying to remember either song titles or tag lyrics from songs dealing with breaking up or getting back together, etc. I particularly need one which would be an apt for the subject of the Civil War - War of Northern Agression - War Between the States - whatever your individual proclivity might be toward that unpleasantness (LOL):P

I'll tell you what I'm up to later if you are interested, which you probably aren't; but that's ok, I could use your help anyway.

Thanks

4. New Lyrics to "Breaking up is hard to do"
I did this back in 2005, thinking this is the version Bush must have been singing right around then:

Pulling Out Is Hard to Do
Bush mulls over an Iraq exit strategy
To the tune of “Breaking Up is Hard To Do”

(Comma comma down, doobie doo down down…)
(Comma comma down, doobie doo down down…)

A.)
Don’t take that oil
Away from me
Don’t mess with my foreign
Policy
B.)
If we withdraw
Then I’ll be blue
‘Cause pulling out is hard to do
A.)
Remember when
Saddam was there
I warned him but
He didn’t care
C.)
Now my invasion’s
An imperfect coup
But pulling out is hard to do
D.)
They say that calling it quits
Is easy to do
Now I know, I know
That it’s true
But if I say: this is the end
Then Halliburton’s mad and we will never see that oil again
A.)
I beg of you
Don’t say good-bye
Give Condi Rice
Another try
C.)
Maybe insurgents
Will all get bird flu
And then leaving won’t be hard to do!

Yes, then leaving won’t be hard to do!

(Comma comma down, doobie doo down down…)

19. Actually, a Spooky Tooth album title, but with Harry Nilsson connections.
"You Broke My Heart So I Busted Your Jaw" was an album by Spooky Tooth. However, Gary Wright was a member of Spooky Tooth, and he played on Nilsson's "Without You". Also, Klaus Voormann designed the inner album art for the Spooky Tooth album, and he played bass for Nilsson.

17. The Everly Brothers - Don't ask me to be friends
After all we've been
To one another
How can we become
Like sister and brother

Darling, I beg of you
If our love must end
Ask me to forget you
But don't ask me to be friends

After being the one
That you took pride in
I just couldn't be
The friend you confide in

If it's goodbye for us
We'll never meet again
Ask me to forget you
But don't ask me to be friends

Wanting you so badly
Needing you like this
How can I just look at
The lips that I used to kiss

If there's someone else
Don't let me see him
Cause I'll spend my life
Wishing I could be him

Darling, I beg of you
If our love must end
Ask me to forget you
But don't ask me to be friends

BTW - I'm 29

22. Two Brothers, definately pre-disco
done as part of a Civil War medley on an old Limelighters LP. Yes, I AM that old and be nice or I'll sick my saber tooth tiger on ya. Actually, this has been one of my favorites since I was about 8 years old, but then, I was a history geek early.

Two brothers
on their way
Two brothers
on their way
Two brothers
on their way
One wore blue
and one wore gray.

One wore blue
and one wore gray
as they marched
along their way.
The fife and drum
began to play
all on a beautiful morning.

One was gentle
won was kind.
One was gentle
won was kind.
One came home
one stayed behind
Cuz cannon ball
don't pay no mind

Cannon ball
don't pay no mind
or you're gentle
or you're kind.
Don't think of
the folks behind
all on a beautiful morning.

Two girls waitin'
by the railroad track.
Two girls waitin'
by the railroad track.
For their darlin's
to come back.
One wore blue
and one wore black.

One wore blue
and one wore black
waiting by
the railroad track
for their darlin's
to come back.
All on a beautiful morning.
