It was, I think, a defining thread in the history of DU. We all went off the deep end in a way, though the research was very collaborative.

One day, I'm contributing my bit to the thread. Next day I'm on the train reading about it on page 1 NY Times.

It made DU look bad, and lots of interesting topics were banished from DU's main forums after that.

I think it's still an interesting issue, though.
