Why doesn't alcohol have to have nutritional information on the labels?
Is it because it's regulated by the BATF (which I only assume, but don't know) and not the FDA?

why do you want nutritional information on the label? it's on t heir website IF you really cared

we all know what alcohol is this time of century, i should hope...

seriously what do you want to know? as a rough rule of thumb, if you have to severely restrict carbs, one glass of dry red or white wine a day, also hard liquor such as vodka, rum, bourbon, etc don't have carbs

if you're diabetic or have to restrict carbs for other reasons, don't drink sweet liqueurs but you know what?

this is obvious

what is a label gonna tell you that you don't already know?

or do you just assume every drunk in the world is a dumb ass? plenty of them are dumb asses but plenty know exactly what they're doing and the dumb asses aren't gonna be helped by a label they won't read

7. Does it feel good to reply so harshly?
I've always wondered why people jump down the throats of others for what appears to be no reason. Does it make you feel superior? Or perhaps you not aware of how angry your response comes across? I really am curious.

8. I can only assume so.
Though one wonders sometimes if the nastiness is merely accidental, and not intentional.

But whatever it is, the posts are too entertainingly negative to ever put on ignore!

15. FDA = Food & DRUG Administration
Of course, this thread was meant in jest anyway, a fact that went flying over your head. I felt the wind over here.

9. proposed
A proposal for a uniform "Alcohol Facts" label was submitted today by the National Consumers League (NCL), the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), and others in a petition to the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau. The petition urges the agency to require a new label for alcoholic beverages that would give consumers clear information about alcohol content, serving sizes, calories, and ingredients. The groups argue that "Alcohol Facts" labels will do for alcoholic beverages what Nutrition Facts labels have done for packaged food: provide readable information that would empower consumers to make informed decisions about the products they consume.

12. There probably isn't any nutrition involved in alcohol.
Honestly, I don't know the answer to your question, but I would imagine that is as good an answer as any. :P

17. True - but yet, bottled water has labels, and all that has is water.
The more I think about it, the more I think it's the FDA/BATF thing.

But I'd like to know for sure.

13. I'd guess "Big Alcohol" has good lobbyists
who buy congressional votes. There's no nutritional info on my prescription drug bottles either. Coincidence?

I'd like to see that info on the labels.

I mean, does "Lite" beer really have fewer calories? Or does it just taste weak?

These are indeed important questions.

:hi:
