My Grandmother seperates all her recyclables |
|
her steel and aluminum cans in seperate bags. Her plastic and cardboard in their own seperate bags.
Then she calls me to empty them in the alley. They all wind up in the same bin,why does my Grandmother seperate them?
I won't say anything, she's got her routine down pat and I don't want to make waves..lol

I think you're right...she has her routine down, and she's used to it...
It used to be required to separate all those things, but a lot of cities no longer require it.
Perhaps you could take her a larger container and point out that she can put everything in there...
Much easier for her, and you!

2. She's recycling the old fashioned way |
|
Before the garbage company recycled the stuff we took it to a recycling center and put it in different bins. If the stuff stays somewhat separated I suppose it would make it easier for the people sorting it as it moves along on the conveyor belt at the recycling center. Our garbage service doesn't recycle #5 (cottage cheese, yogurt type) containers. They claim there isn't anyone they've found to utilize #5. I take those to the recycling center in the next town.

I can't bring myself to throw away an aluminum can.I always stick it somewhere and kind of set them out for the dumpster divers. I don't recycle anything else.
