And the clothes are fitting much better!

13. It's a great feeling.
I've lost 46 pounds in about 16 months. I'm not consistent -- I lose 10-15, take a break, then start up again. I've gone through 2-3 sizes. Thank God for the Goodwill for my "transition clothes" or I'd look like my kids with my pants below my butt. I'm hope to get another 30 off, 20 at least. It will depend on how I feel. I'm 5 pounds away from "normal" -- the high end of normal that is. But damn, just having normal in reach is a victory.

16. I'm not near "normal" yet, but I'll get there.
And I must congratulate you, Catshrink. It's so great that you've lost that much weight. You'll get to that "normal" state very soon, I think!

18. Can't stand cottage cheese.
I've tried it off and on over the years, and have never developed a taste for it. I am eating more fruit, though, especially oranges. And smaller portions, and not as many snacks.

20. LeftyPop was eating cottage cheese in another thread.
I tolerate it -- like it better with pineapple.

I've been avoiding carbs, eating a bare minimum of breads and refined sugars. It's killin' me because I'm a carbaholic. I have raisin bran for breakfast because of the fiber and need the bulk (you know what I mean) and have Wasa bread, RyeCrisp, or Triscuits at lunch. But, lots of veggies. It's boring. But... I'm close so I'm going to tolerate it for a little while longer.

I haven't eaten out in ages. The last time I did the food tasted too sweet and too salty and I didn't enjoy it at all. I've changed.

Especially when it comes to bread. OMG, bread is like a drug to me! I've cut back on that too, though.

I'm not doing crash dieting or anything; I know it doesn't work in the long run, and can be harmful.

It's mostly just a change in eating habits.

24. My dear SeattleGirl!
Congrats, sweetie!

I know how hard it is...

Now. Momma Peg is going to ask some questions! Ready? OK!

Are you doing what you can live with, over the long haul? If you are, that will make your long-term success much more likely!

Do you consider this a diet, or a way of life? If it's a diet, then it's something that you can stop...A way of life is just that...

I changed how I lived, and that made it possible to stay on the good path...I eat desserts, and snacks. Just not as much as before...

Keep it going!

I am proud of you!

:loveya:  :loveya:

27. My dear Momma Peg!
Thank you!

And to answer your questions:

I am doing what I can live with. I'm not craving food because I'm not eating enough; it's more that I'm eating smaller meals, and eating a little more often, which seems to be working quite well. (I cannot do the starvation diet thing, as I tend to have low blood sugar. Not that I would want to do that, but it's like I have a built-in defense against such things.)

I consider this a way of life. I don't like "diets" -- with me, the moment I utter that word, I want to eat everything in the house!

:loveya:  :loveya:

33. Eating better, eating smaller meals a little more often rather than
three squares a day, plus I found something to help my digestion which also seems to be giving me a boost.

37. Some good habits, some not so good things going on in my life
I got a Wii Fit about two months ago and have steadily lost weight as I have used it. The yoga part has been great for my back.

I have tried to keep more fresh fruit in the house. When I am hungry I reach for something that is healthy. I have also actively sought out foods with a lot of fiber in them, such as the breakfast cereal and bagels I eat for breakfast. I have cut way down on eating in restaurants.

I would love to say that I have been perfect, but I haven't, yet I've still managed to drop the weight. I plan to keep it up - I need to feel better!

The other part is just the stress from my life imploding (search my posts, not pretty and not getting better anytime soon)

Thanks for asking!

life part!).

I want to get a Wii Fit too. Looks like fun, and I think exercise should be fun. I'm not into "feeling the burn".

44. I think it's because of how much I have to lose
and I have always been a person who drops (and gains) weight quickly. It is nothing for me to fluctuate by five pounds in a single day.

Trust me, I'm not starving myself. I have a feeling as I continue that my rate of loss will slow down. I do appreciate your concern, thanks!

45. while we're all bragging, I've dropped about 15 lbs since May
Edited on Sun Sep-27-09 08:21 AM by KG
dropped all refined sugar and HFCS from my diet. and most highly processed foods, like pasta and bread, thought I still have a sammich from time to time.

got back out on my mountain bike on a daily basis, weather permitting, getting lighter and stronger every week.

it'll be spring before i'm back to where i want to be.
