You see he gives all of the credit of his success to God, well apparently God doesn't know how to block two defensive ends.

Screw it, its funny and you know it.

3. No, I hate him too
I'm not even an SEC fan one way or another. I have no emotional stake in Florida's success or lack thereof. But I really fucking hate the collective multiple orgasms the sports commentary community has had over Tim Tebow since his freshman fucking year.

8. Oh I hate him precisely because of his religious beliefs and how the sports writers gush over him
Here's a quote from an SI article from his father telling the story of his birth.
Even if you have, it's worth hearing from the mouth of his father: "When I was out in the mountains in Mindanao, back in '86, I was showing a film and preaching that night. I was weeping over the millions of babies being in America, and I prayed, 'God, if you give me a son, if you give me Timmy, I'll raise him to be a preacher.'" Not long after, Bob and Pam Tebow conceived their fifth child. It was a very difficult pregnancy. "The placenta was never properly attached, and there was bleeding from the get-go," Bob recalls. "We thought we'd lost him several times." Early in the pregnancy Pam contracted amebic dysentery, which briefly put her in a coma. Her doctors, fearful that medications they had given her had damaged the fetus, advised her to abort it. She refused, and on Aug. 14, 1987, Pam delivered a healthy if somewhat scrawny Timothy Richard Tebow.

"All his life, from the moment he could understand, I told him, 'You're a miracle baby,'" Bob recalls. "'God's got a purpose for you, and at some point I think He's going to call you to preach.'

"I asked God for a preacher, and he gave me a quarterback."

Now would the media be as sympathetic and positive to a player that was muslim and whose father said when he found out his wife was pregnant he prayed to Allah that he would send a leader that would purge all of the Jews out of Palestine. I think not.

23. What I notice about most of the Tebow bashing
Edited on Sun Sep-27-09 12:47 PM by JonLP24
It usually has something to do with religious beliefs. I can say most players in football are christian and it's funny Tebow is the one singled out the most. I'm a non-believer but one of my favorite players Larry Fitzgerald is a christian and he doesn't take flak for it.

then he got hurt. boo friggin hoo. He was blinded by his pride and lust for another Heisman (like where has any QB from the state of Florida gone after winning a Heisman? the Bachelor.)

Which of these does the uber christian stumble on?

Lust: maybe lusting after another heisman trophy
Gluttony:
Greed:
Sloth: probably not this one
Wrath: I dunno
Envy:
Pride: OH BIGTIME!

I am so sick of the Tebow worship here in Jax

12. And think about the QB's that have come out of USC in this decade
Fer' crissakes, one of their backups (Matt Cassel) is now the starting QB for an NFL team. He saw very little playing time at the college level and stilled turned out to be a serviceable NFL quarterback. How sick is the recruiting at USC that their backups have NFL potential? Then, think about Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, Mark Sanchez, John David Booty, etc.

FWIW, I hate USC (I'm a Boise State Bronco fan - we're the best football program in the country when you account for how much we've done with so little money, support, and mid-range recruits), but you have to respect what Pete Carroll has done with USC, especially recruiting 5 Star defensive players. Shit, USC's defense last year was better than the Detroit Lions.

But I just can't bring myself to wish harm upon him.

28. If you have any reverence for the game itself
the potential loss of a talented player is always a bummer. I hate the Gators but that guy Tebow was going to be a hell of an NFL QB.

Now, he may never play again. That's a loss to the game itself.

33. "Tebow was going to be a hell of an NFL QB"
What are you on and can we all get some to? There would be ice skating in hell before Tebow became a good NFL QB. He can't throw the ball farther than 40 yards with any accuracy. His main offensive weapon is his legs and the NFL stands for Not For Long for running QBs, they end up on the training table before the end of the first quarter.
