Building from a GD thread, what do you think we'll have in 50 years? |
|
Think of how far we've come in the last 50 years, from massive computers and boxy phones to phones that ARE computers, etc. Use your imagination, what will my 70+ yr old self be using in 2059?
Personally, I'm looking forward to taking my grandkids on a vacation to the Moon. I'll be pissed if I'm still driving on the surface of the road. I want my flying car, dammit!

and trying to find enough food and fuel to get to the next outpost of what remains of civilization. :hi:

we will have acquired the ability to sort out our problems without resorting to war. Maybe our space exploration budget will be seen as a more urgent government program to fund than our defense budget. Hopefully we'll have health care for all by then.
I guess I'd like to see us make greater social progress. Flying cars would be cool, too. :)

5. I'm thinking that an expanded space exploration budget... |
|
will result in an even greater military defense budget, as the arms race will expand to include as many other planets and moons as we can land a space probe on.

6. Well, we could work on the first idea before that part |
|
I think you might be right if we don't find a cure for war.

4. Hopefully, by then, the car will drive You! |
|
We really need to wrest control of vehicles from their owners. Let them txt and yap and surf the 'net to their hearts' content while the car gets them to their destination on its own.
I figure in 50 years' time, we will have cybernetic "people" ala "Ghost in the Shell" :)
