My sister should get a gig with FUX Snooze.
Every time there's a family get together of any sort, she manages to turn it into "The Stephanie Show"...doesn't matter whether someone else is the guest of honor or not. She can't shut her damn mouth, and has to put her own personal commentary on anything anybody says, oftentimes interrupting the person who was speaking to begin with. These comments are typically laced with inaccurate analyses of people's intimate thoughts and feelings and highly doctored "facts" from the past.

She is quite charming and flirtatious when she does this, so more often than not, people are enamored of her effervescence. I don't deny that I feel jealous when folks go gaga about her after she's interrupted me for the umpteenth fucking time. I realize that's my problem which I have to learn to deal with. But jeeze, is it so surprising, especially when a lot of the stuff she blurts out is inaccurate? It doesn't help that she's a rethuglican. :grr:

Pardon my rant.

1. Sorry honey

:(

There was a post on here recently that referenced "Manic Pixie Dream Girls" as a persona -- "that bubbly, shallow cinematic creature that exists solely in the fevered imaginations of sensitive writer-directors to teach broodingly soulful young men to embrace life and its infinite mysteries and adventures."

Sounds like you mnay have one on your hands -- too bad she is a Republican. x(

3. LOL. That pretty much describes her...
She did a fair amount of heavy drug use when she was a kid; and I think it may have messed her brain up. I'm sure being raised in a dysfunctional family played a role too. I try to tell myself these things when she gets all flibbertigibbety. I'm not sure if that's a word or not.

What's sad is that she really does possess intelligence; but she doesn't choose to slow down and really think about what she's saying...or what the people she votes for truly represent.

Thanks for the hug, hon.

6. I like "flibbertigibbety" -- if it's not a word, it should be!

Have you tried talking to her one-on-one, when she's not in turbo/performance mode?

You can have a hug any time!

8. Not in 30 years probably...
I just gave up, and assumed it was a personality thing I'd just have to learn to deal with.

2. People who interrupt and act as though everything revolves around them suck.
They suck giant bigtime.

Sorry you have to suffer through it all.

If it means anything to you, I think you're right. AND you rock!

7. I've yet to see that show...
I've only seen Regis on Letterman, years ago. He reminds me of a chipmunk, or some other cute littl furry rodent.

9. For my mother it's all about kelly - she knows all about her and her family
and my mother isn't someone who sits around and watches alot of television. She couldn't tell you who the big TV stars or movie stars or what's big playing at the movies. Last movie she saw was "Wild Hogs" and before that was "Best lil Whorehouse in Texas" (she wanted to see Dolly Parton singing but had no idea what a Whorehouse was)

12. WTF GOG?
do I kick her ass or yours for allowing her to treat you that way? Next time she interrupts shout I'M NOT FINISHED SPEAKING and then CONTINUE what you were saying - repeat I'M NOT FINISHED SPEAKING as many times as necessary until you ARE done speaking. TELL HER TO STFU.

14. I guess I'm afraid of appearing to be as rude as she is...
Yesterday's gathering was a delayed baby shower for my son and his girlfriend. We were in a restaurant, and since there were 9 of us, our party was a louder than most.

At one point, when she interrupted me, I just continued talking, raising my voice to a level that was uncomfortably loud for a restaurant, and I'm pretty sure my facial expression made it plain that I was annoyed, because she did back down. But maybe you're right...maybe I need to be blunt and outspoken about it for the message to sink in.

Thanks, Skittles. :-)
