Me? Started a new job, might be moving to Florida. I hear it's like California but flat, humid and full of old people.

I've been going through a lot of medication drama recently because I developed an allergy to one of my long-time meds and had to figure out which one. We have it pinned down and I'm not taking it anymore. Once this gets replaced I should be able to be online more again.

But there's no work, whatsoever, so added
to the budgets cuts in disability services, it's
very rough right now.

I am so amazingly fortunate that I was able to get private Long Term Disability Insurance while I was still able to work. My disability was known back then and progressive so the insurance company would have loved to deny me. But it was through my employer, so they couldn't.

That insurance money is now the only thing keeping me going financially. I wish more companies offered this as a benefit, and I wish everyone could have this to fall back upon.

We do not have a working safety net anymore in this country. :(

I will keep sending good vibes for something good to happen.

Man, I haven't heard from you in ages. I'm sorry about your hands, my friend. I might be playing NY soon so if so, I'll shoot you a line and I'll get up there and make some time to at least say hi or go for a beer or something.

I believe they'd pay for moving. At least a DIY move. I've read the cost of living is a good 20% less than here which suits me fine because DC is like 15% cheaper than San Diego and I'm still used to SD.

I really hope you're ok, dude. I know we don't interact a ton but if there's anything I can ever do you for you, you just let me know. I know some people in NYC who are generous, or will be generous because I'll break their knees if they aren't! Seriously, one works at a cupcake bakery. Mmmm. Cupcakes.

At some point I need to travel down to Florida again. Jenna's Mom is down there and she's a sweetheart. And there is a Harry Potter themed park opening up at Universal Studios in Orlando. So we're going to go down there and see at least two parts of the state.

If you are settled in and we can swing by, we'll make that a third place to our itinerary.

We'll be driving, not too many hours per day, and looking for places to stop along the way to keep my pain within good thresholds. I can't handle long interrupted trips anymore. So stopping to visit would be a wonderful thing. :)

Especially here in South Florida -- Miami Beach and L.A. share that sort of plastic Hollywood thing.

Guessing by the email chatter I've seen, it's going to be somewhere near Tampa or Ft. Myers. I think they're kind of close together but I haven't even really checked yet. I'd rather know for certain than rack my brain looking.

If I do end up moving there's going to be an enormous influx of Oingo Boingo records coming to the Sunshine State.

Whether that's close together is, of course, a matter of opinion. Tampa's a pretty cool town, even if it's got the crappiest football team in the NFL and is, bizarrely, ground zero for death metal bands nationally, if not worldwide. Fort Myers is God's Waiting Room, very old, very quiet, but the housing market crashed there even worse than most of the state, which means you can get a house real cheap.

90. Florida sucks. Especially South Florida.

I lived there most of my life. And it's nothing like California. I lived there for a year in the Los Angeles area. Florida's full of bugs, crime, heat, humidity and no one speaks English any more. Very flat land. The highest points in South Florida are the causeway bridges. I now live in North Georgia in the metro Atlanta area. That's the smartest move I have ever made.
