I've been thinking of buying a new computer before Christmas and I'd like to do it with 7 instead of Vista. So what's the date for release?

I'm running it now(working in IT rocks!) and it's FAR superior to Vista or XP, believe it or not.

You can get a free upgrade that will be sent to you when it's released.
You need to check the procedures - they are based on manufacturer. For example, HP only offers the free upgrade on certain models - the list of which you can find on their website.
I did this w/ Vista when I bought a laptop a few years ago. Came w/ XP on it but I got a free Vista disc in the mail when it was released.

You don't have to BUY from the manufacturer for this to work. I'm in the process of looking for a workstation for myself @ work. I found a good deal on one at Tiger Direct - offer still applies according to manufacturers specifications.
