An investigation is under way after a 19-year-old woman was found dead on a beach in Portishead.
The teenager, who has been named locally as Holly Coleing, was discovered by a passer-by on Saturday morning on the beach by the Royal Hotel at Pier Road.
It is believed that she had been there for several hours before being discovered by a rambler walking along the beach.
Police, who have not officially confirmed the teenager's identity, say they are not treating the death as suspicious and the matter has now been passed to the coroner.
A police spokesman said: "We were called just after 1pm on Saturday to reports that a body of a teenage girl had been discovered on the beach near Pier Road. We are not treating the death as suspicious and the matter has been referred to the coroner."
Holly, who followed goth music and fashion, was a student at Gordano School and left in 2008 but later returned to work there last year as a cleaner. It is not known whether she was still working at the school.
Gordano School head teacher Graham Silverthorne said: "We were informed on Monday morning and this sad news was announced at the staff briefing.
"Holly was a nice young woman and everyone is really shocked and saddened and our thoughts are with her family and friends.
"She was a talented, creative and artistic girl and will be sadly missed by all."
Tributes and messages have been left on a cliff face at the beach.
Scratched into the cliff face is the message: "RIP Holbo – love you"
On a ledge about 3ft above the ground is an empty packet of Lambert & Butler cigarettes, an empty bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey with yellow flowers in it, a green and yellow stuffed elephant, a black bead bracelet and necklace, and another bracelet with stone beads, a bunch of flowers and a hand-rolled cigarette.
