Can anyone estimate how much it'll be to get the alternator on my car replaced? |
|
I'm having battery issues.
The lights and radio are fine, but I've needed two jumps in the past three days.
Guy at the auto parts store said he couldn't say definitively if it was the battery or alternator. The battery is probably around 4 years old and I'm taking it in to get the alternator tested tomorrow.
I just went through some semi big-ticket expenses and not quite looking forward to a big estimate. What can I expect, parts and labor (I get that it will be an round estimate) to replace the alternator, if it turns out that is the problem?
Thanks, DU mechanically-inclined!

5. Why do people have to be jerks when a straight forward question gets asked? |

Wish there was an "advice" forum I could go to.....unfortunately this is it and I was hoping for a few words of wisdom without the snark.
On edit: actually, snark away as long as there are some useful hints included!

Cherokee .... not a "grand."
And, I'd assume a 6-cyl.
Looks like I'm looking at $150 for the part? And a couple of hours of labor?
Not that bad, could be worse....
