there is a certain comedy factor in a Good Humor man tooling around with that blasting from the speakers. How many kids run FROM the ice cream man?

Clearly, this is one career option I can rule out. ;)

37. They HAVE ice cream trucks in Manhattan Beach?
We had one come to our local park this summer and it felt so nostalgic, as I hadn't seen one in years.

It brought back such memories. One summer, while he was on strike, to put food on the table my father became the ice cream man.

Bungalo bar...

He was such a good father. The last stop was always his kid's house, and the ice cream man always bought his sons an ice cream.

Mind you he was on strike and he didn't have a dime.

Sigh...

I lived on 10th Street, and before that Beach Dr. I can't recall an ice cream truck, but maybe I wasn't paying attention.

68. Actually where I live I did hear one go by this past summer and there are no children around here.
Kids don't seem to be outside all day the way they were when I was a kid. Back then in the summer we would be outside all day long until it was dark and we were called to come home or the curfew whistle sounded. As a boy I seemed to spend a lot of time with my friends looking for boards to make a fort or a go-cart or for a big refrigerator box to roll in down the hill in front of the house. And hearing the ice cream truck was a big deal, with lots of kids trailing along. (We also used to follow on our bikes behind the city truck that was fogging for mosquitoes in the summer as gassed birds fell out of the trees along the way.)

every evening, and it plays The Entertainer - theme from movie The Sting.
When we first moved to Houston 26-years ago, I was so tickled that the
ice cream trucks run all year round.
