1. My dear Skip Intro...
I love the internet because it has taught me so much...

It allows me to go places and see things that I could not have otherwise...

And it brought me here, to DU. And THAT changed my life.

8. I love information and in the old days, I'd have to find a book
or talk to somebody for answers to all my (endless) questions. Now I can get on the internet and find information on just about anything in the world. I don't consider internet resources the final answer but they make a great starting point when I want to learn. As an old lady of 46, I think it's a miracle!

13. I don't love the internet.
But I find it indispensable.

I use google, wikipedia, weather.com, and amazon all the time. Finding used books is now easier than ever before, thanks to several websites. Library catalogs are now online; the old card catalogs have disappeared. These are just a few examples of how I depend on the internet.

One thing I miss is newsgroups. They were good for many years; then the spam started growing exponentially.

16. The internet brought me the love of my life.
Mrs. V. read something I posted on Planet Out, was impressed by my grasp of the English language, read my profile, was astonished at a few things we have in common, and sent me an email. This was on October 24, 1999.
