Man Pleads Guilty to DWI in Motorized La-Z-Boy

Dennis LeRoy Anderson, 62, pled guilty Monday in St. Louis County District Court to DWI in connection with the Aug. 31, 2008, incident in Proctor, Minnesota. Anderson claimed he was driving the chair fine until a woman jumped on it and knocked the chair off course. He had to forfeit his motorized chair to Proctor police, who plan to auction it off.

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- A Minnesota man has pleaded guilty to driving his motorized La-Z-Boy chair while drunk. A criminal complaint says 62-year-old Dennis LeRoy Anderson told police he left a bar in the northern Minnesota town of Proctor on his chair after drinking eight or nine beers.

Prosecutors say Anderson's blood alcohol content was 0.29, more than three times the legal limit, when he crashed into a parked vehicle in August 2008. He was not seriously injured.

Police said the chair was powered by a converted lawnmower and had a stereo and cup holders.

2. A while back there was a similar story

A man was arrested and charged with DUI for riding (driving?) a motorized cart he'd stolen from Wal-Mart on the wrong side of the road while being snockered. He was also charged with a felony for stealing the cart.
