Stabbed in the brain - and he lived
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2008/10/01/knifed-in-the-head-and-he-lived-115875-20763496/

These dramatic X-ray images reveal how a 15-year-old boy was stabbed in the head with a five-inch blade - and survived.

The youngster was rushed to hospital with the kitchen knife still embedded in his brain after he was attacked by thugs.

Despite losing a fifth of his brain functions in the stabbing at a South London bus stop, the student, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, recovered after surgeons removed the bendy blade.

4. Sometimes the competition is just exceptionally stiff.
I wouldn't take it personally.

6. Figures.
Bush**'s actual brain is so small, the knife penetrated harmlessly through layers of fat. :(

7. Poor guy, right in the left ventromedial prefontal cortex. Not good.
Injuries there can really fuck up a person's judgment abilities. :(

12. The repubs are looking
for presidential candidates. Having fucked up judgment would be a basic requirement.

8. Years ago, I remember seeing an x-ray at a local hospital
of a local man who worked in construction. He was following another guy up a ladder to the roof of a house, and the guy in front was holding a live nail gun--he twitched or something, shot the nail gun, and hit the other guy right in the top of the head. The nail was at least 3 or 4 inches long; it showed clear as day on the x-ray. The technician said because it went in so clean, they were able to remove it and he completely recovered, but it was one of those things you never forget.

11. I also remember seeing photos of a patient who had
been stabbed in the upper abdomen with a round hairbrush that had a pointy-ended handle. He came into the ER with the brush sticking out of his body.

That's one of the reasons I loved doing continuing ed for docs--you saw some and heard about some REALLY strange things . . . .

by Howard Dully - Beleive it or not, this is a lot like how "orbital lobotomy" was performed.
