Grown Women with Babydoll Voices - your thoughts? |
|
It always makes me do a double take - but every so often I talk to a fully grown woman who talks like a baby girl, sometimes even using baby words.

4. Maybe...but a handful of folkie-indie-country alt. types... |
|
They sound like they're trying to sing while someone is trying to resuscitate them with ether.

Ether would actually knock you out! :)
But I agree about the baby-doll voices. ;(

3. Oh lord, will it ever end? |
|
The flood of singers with little girls voices in the 90s turned me off pop music.

5. And to think that was paralelled by the Sinead O'Connor model |
|
Which was to to add rage, angst, a forced contra-alto voice contrasted by soprano range.
Say what you will about Sinead, she DID completely revolutionize female vocals

6. Make entertaining police/fire dispatchers |
|
One town in ther late 70's had sucha lovely voiced dispatcher. Think we all used to have our dreams of the body that must have gone with that voice. And all of us too afraid to find out if she truly was as lovely as she sounded.

8. I knew a woman like that |
|
She was very intelligent as well... she didn't use baby words, just had that baby doll voice. She was also very attractive. I haven't heard from her in years, but I know when she was in college, she dated a lot of wealthy and much older men (guys in their late 40s and into their 50s) - so, some guys must love it.

9. A sign of possible sexual abuse as a child. |
|
Dr. Drew Pinski speaks about this often -- a girl becomes developmentally "frozen" when she is abused and can retain her childs voice as an adult. When he was doing his radio show very often a woman with a littel girl voice would call with a question and almost inevitibly she had been the victum of childhood sexual abuse.

And she has a following of students who talk like little girls, too. It sounds like hell's kindergarten here some days.

I never trust women who speak like that.
They never seem to take responsibility for their actions.
