Sammy Hagar to rejoin Van Halen?
Although there has been no official word from either camp, it looks like a deal has been done for Sammy Hagar to rejoin Van Halen.

Van Halen have been on-hold since the departure of their third singer Gary Cherone and following Eddie Van Halen's cancer scare. Now it seems the way has been paved for the return of Van Halen as a recording and touring entity with their old singer.
A reformation with Hagar at one point seemed an impossible dream. In 1998, he told Undercover how he found out he was out of the band the first time. Van Halen had been recording with David Lee Roth behind his back. Those sessions were used in part on their Best of Vol 1 album. "It actually made it easier for me when they got David Lee Roth back in the band for me to go "well the hell with you guys". This is like really back stabbing. They were rehearsing with Roth for two weeks before I even found out about it. After 10 great years of camaraderie they turn on me like that" he said.

Hagar is one of the most tedious personalities in the history of entertainment.

8. David is too busy with
his Vegas act. Besides Eddie and David can only stand each other for a few minutes before they have to split up. Both egos are too big for the band, but whatta helluva concert those guys could put on. I've Halen with David Lee three times and once with Hagar and I have also seen Hagar live twice. All in the eighties. :headbang:

9. Yeah, it is true
The Van Halen reunion tour with Sammy Hagar has been the worst kept secret in rock and roll this year, with an announcement expected soon for what will be one of the biggest tours of the second half of 2004.

A second volume of Greatest Hits is also said to be in the works with three new songs with Sammy included.

http://www.undercover.com.au/news/2004/mar04/20040305_vanhalen.html

Hits Daily Double is reporting that Warner Strategic Marketing is said to have negotiated a deal with VAN HALEN for a new greatest-hits package featuring three new songs. A tour to support the album is also said to be in the works, reportedly to include Sammy Hagar. While still unconfirmed, some close to the action confide that they think the album and tour will happen.

Several othere references in google news...

Incidently, I heard the rift came when Roth was asked back to record several new songs for the Greatest Hits Vol. 1. Group manager then tried to talk Alex Van Halen into endorsing a tour with both Hagar and Roth for mucho $$$$$$$$$$$$$, pissing Hagar off.

11. That sounds like what I have heard.
I heard that in addition, there would be a new full album with Hagar in addition to GHVII. I have heard rumors about this back in December and thought it was interesting. Back in the late 90's Hagar held a grudge, understandibly. He said, up until he did the Sam&Dave tour that he would never go back to Van Halen, despite being buds with Michael Anthony after the split. Hagar still fared decently as a solo artist while VH went down the crapper and everybody has wondered what was going on with the band for the last five years. While I prefer the Roth years, Hagar was good in the band too. I have virtually all VH albums except Diver Down, just have not got it. I was hoping that they would go back to the glory of one of their former singers. I kept hearing Roth for two years but it never materialized. For a long time I never thought Hagar would go back. I don't think he did either. My how things have changed these past 8 years.

10. This is awsome
They've been saying they'd mend ways for years. I'm glad they decided to put their differences aside. They were so great together!

13. The most important question...
Who cares? Van Halen couldn't write lyrics no matter who was fronting them, Dave was the worst front man of the bunch, right behind Sammy

19. True.
I like VH because it is fun to listen to. THere are sometimes songs that are more meaningful, but most are not supposed to be.

One thing though, Isn't Sammy Hagar a republican? He ain't even close to as bad as Ted Nugent. I just read somewhere.

15. For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge was great.
I thought it was the best and most cohesive of the Van Hagar albums. It smoked. While the Van Hagar stuff tended to be more uneven than Classic VH, F.U.C.K. was great beginning to end. 5150 was pretty solid too, except the last song on that album sucked hard.
