3. its a nasal irrigation device
you use some special saline mixture, bend over a sink, pour it in one nostril till it comes out the other, repeat

I can't take any meds for my cold, so I'm trying all this crap.

And though at first, for a minute, you breathe and say ahhhhhhhhh

then the pain, the pressure in my sinuses from disturbing whatever it had going on in there. Plus the saline burns my tender red nose, hehe

Then mucus comes out

Then it hurts more because it is so very dry.

Don't I sound sexy talking nasal irrigation to you?
Is it supposed to be so uncomfortable when first using it?

6. This description is useless without pictures.
Nothing is sexier than seeing someone flush the mucus from her sinuses. Hubba hubba!

;)

Was it immature of me to laugh when I first took the neti pot out of the box because I thought the spout looked like a blue penis?

Eye contact is everything in photos like that.

No, but it might be immature of me to laugh at the fact that you laughed at it.

8. Keep using it
You'll get used to it.

I started using one a few months ago for some sinus issues I have. Couldn't stand it at first; now I can hardly go a day without using it. It's cleared up a lot of issues that I have and I can breathe easily for the first time in a long time.

You might try adjusting the amount of salt you use or the temperature of the water. I occasionally still make a pot with too much salt and it's a bit burn-y, but other than that, I think they're a godsend.

12. thanks
I'll try using a little less salt, I found cooler water seems to make it more tolerable.

9. Why do you say that? Everyone I know that uses them, including myself, loves them
although you do need to pour the water slowly or things can get a bit unpleasent.

13. I think it is a bit traumatic for my already sensitive nasal passages
I've kept at it and it is getting better. At first, my sinuses really hurt using it, now that they are cleared up a bit, it is not so bad.

10. I love my neti pot
I'm overly sensitive to OTC allergy meds so being able to clean out my sinuses without drugs is a wonderful thing. It feels weird at first, but you get use to it over time.

16. My sinuses were so bad the first time I used it, my head felt like a water balloon
It took forever for the fluid to come out and it was NOT pleasant. Just like you though, I was able to sleep that night without the meds.

17. I use 1/8 tsp saline mix per 8 oz of water.
If the saline solution is burning your nose, it has either too much salt, or not enough.

I started off with a neti pot, but then moved to the NeilMed bottle for sinus irrigation. It was easier for me to use. Keep on with it - your sinuses will thank you. :)
