Yes, they are remaking "True Grit."
And the story gets so much better. The Coen Brothers are doing it, and Jeff Bridges will play Rooster.

Remake Poutrage versus Genius Idolatry. On your mark, get set...

Oh yea, I'm in the GI camp here.

"Looks like the mighty Coen brothers will be making their reboot of the classic 1969 John Wayne western “True Grit” in these them parts, with the shoot revving up in March."

2. ?
Rooster Cogburn: Walter, I got Hayes and some youngster outside with Moon and Quincy. I want you to bury 'em for me. I'm in a hurry.
Capt. Walter Sobchak: They're dead, dude?
Rooster Cogburn: Well, I wouldn't want you to bury 'em if they wasn't.

Jesus Quintana: Let me tell you something, pendejo. You pull any of your crazy shit with us, you flash a piece out on the lanes, I'll take it away from you, stick it up your ass and pull the fucking trigger 'til it goes "click."
Rooster Cogburn: Fill your hands, you son of a bitch!

It could have game.

14. They are saying they want to make a movie based on the book, not the movie.
They claim the book had elements the first movie didn't capture, and it had a different ending. Kind of like when Tim Burton remade "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," although I seem to be the only one around who likes what he did there.

I don't think it's shark jumping, but I'm nervous about it. The first film had such perfect performances from Wayne and Kim Darby it will be impossible to avoid comparisons, though it's now old enough that a lot of moviegoers haven't seen it.

There are three filmmakers I trust to never screw up anything: Miyazaki, Pixar, and the Coens. I hope that doesn't dwindle to two. :)

13. God, I love Jeff Bridges!
If this doesn't look too violent (like "Fargo"), I'll probably see it. Sounds like G.I. to me.

15. He's great, isn't he? So overlooked.
He mailed it in in "Iron Man," but he's usually brilliant. It's hard to remember sometimes that it was the same actor in "The Big Lebowski" and "Seabiscuit."

18. Hell, go all the way back to "Starman." He was nominated for the Oscar.
But that was the year of "Amadeus" and F. Murray Abraham won that one by miles. What a performance.

But Jeff Bridges was awesome in "Starman."
