Edited on Fri Dec-04-09 01:36 AM by Skip Intro
My former beauty, wonderful male tuxedo, passed over a year ago, I'll see you again Hamilton, but here is the one I'm getting Monday, from a friend with big dogs who rescued her and currently can only have her kept in a cage. Poor cat. Monday, she'll be mine...

On edit, any name suggestions would be appreciated. I'm thinking Sam (after Bewitched).

Isn't she a cutie?

3. Aw, she's beautiful!
As for female cats, you probably know already to spay her early. I've got 5 males and 3 females, and the boys can be very affectionate, but sort of indiscriminately. The girls, I had to earn their love. That's the only difference I've ever noticed. Enjoy her! She looks like she'll have a mind of her own, lots of good times ahead!

I have one cat, a female, and she is no trouble at all. I wish you and your new kitty cat the best of luck.

5. Has she been spayed?
If not, get her spayed if she's 6 months or older. She's beautiful and looks a bit scared in the photos but I'm sure she'll be a very loving, affectionate pet. If you plan to let her go outside get her microchipped, it only costs $20 at our County animal shelter, vets can also but they may charge you more. Congratulations on a new source of joy, love, entertainment and wonder.

8. No, her first experience with me will be going to the vet. I hope she'll forgvie me.

I won't let her outside. I let my last cat outside and he contracted FIV. This one will be an indoor cat exclusively. I'll hate depriving her of the outdoors that I know she must be instinctively drawn to, but I'll make her inside time as enjoyable as I can.

Thanks for the congrats. Here I go again. :D

18. Good idea for her to be an indoor cat
After awhile, they adapt perfectly. And indoor cats live longer. I take my 7 indoor cats out on a harness and leash occasionally, but some don't seem to like it that much. Their whole world is the great indoors.

31. Indoor cat tip: put kitty-accessible furniture in front of all windows
or at least convenient to them. Amelia has four windows to choose from and is happy running from one to another; never tries to get out.

If she's still a kitten, Wellness kitten food was a hit back when I was feeding a kitten. Evo is good for grownup cats.

Also if she's still a kitten, just call her Puddin' or Button until you have a better idea what her personality is like and what name you think fits her. Amelia got her formal name from my then-girlfriend Alice, but I've always called her Monkey instead.

Good luck with the new kitty; she's a cutie.

I really don't know much about male cats but that sweet little girl shouldn't be a problem for you.

14. It'll come to you. My next pet will be Bon Qui Qui just because I love that name.
But, no matter what I name my pets, they always end up going by something else. My black kitty, Emma, goes by Baby Cat, and Honey, my white shepherd mix, goes by Doops. Maybe pets just acquire their names, regardless of the ones we try to impose on them.

7. Spay her ASAP and you'll have the perfect companion.
As long as you spay her, you most likely won't have any problems. Other than that, just love her. She is a real cutie. It's good to know she will be getting a good home to someone who is obviously excited to adopt her.

17. She's lovely, and lucky to have found you (or you her).

Sam is a cute name, especially if you like Bewitched. There's also Endora :) And I recently saw an episode with sweet, spacy Aunt Clara. Clara's a pretty name, too.

We have a big, beautiful tuxedo male named Ivan; I'm sorry for your loss of Hamilton.

We might have to place Ivan with some friends for a few months while we're moving / transitioning; it makes me heartsick to think of it.

19. What a beautiful caliby (calico tabby) kitty
I think you should stick with Sam as her name. It fits her purr-fectly.

By all means, get her to a vet and check to see if she's spayed--and get her up to date on her shots.

20. Aww what a sweetie!
Love the enormous ears! And she has a very soulful expression. I hope you two will be very happy together!

If you're not 100 percent certain of the name, let her hang out with you for a few days and see what comes to you. When I got my familiar I had NO idea what to name her. I had her chilling in the den for the first couple of days to acclimate (as we already had a male and we wanted to keep him calm too). One day I was sitting with her on the futon, glanced up, and saw a book on the bookshelf with the name "Jasmine" in the title. It stood out, so I figured it was a sign. And her name fit her very well.

All the best to you and your new kitteh! :hi:

No tips for a female cat - nothing's different, really. Just treat her like the queen that she is.

Congrats! :bounce:

27. What a sweet face!
Lucky kitty! I'm terrible with names, but if you're considering a "Bewitched" name, I like "Esmerelda" (Alice Ghostley's character, the goofy maid), or "Serena" (Samantha's look-alike, goofy cousin). But looking at her, she might just turn out to be a "Miss Trouble".

Give that little pink nose a kiss for me when she comes home, please.

I have always had females so I can't compare, but.....
they will keep you on your toes.
I think they are busier and better planners than males.
