Do you celebrate small victories?
I do. It helps me get through the day.

This afternoon's small victory: choosing Diet Coke instead of Coke, when I desperately wanted Coke.

I wonder if people quitting smoking celebrate everytime they say "NO" to the urge. I hope so.

What do you celebrate?

1. Yes I do.
Example... I was replacing my old deck. When I was demolishing it, the last plank that need to be removed was RIGHT NEXT to the big electrical cable that ran into the meter. The juice in those things will kill you instantly.

I did not assemble the original deck myself, and whoever did managed to put a nail about a sixteenth of an inch away from this cable.

I looked at that nail for DAYS while working around it, wondering how in the hell I was going to remove it without killing myself. I knew that if my cat's paw slipped only slightly, its sharp end would penetrate the cable and ZZZZZZT!!!!

My only sensible choice was to call the electric company and have them turn off the juice at the pole, but one day my confidence ran high, so I just decided to do it. I hit the cat's paw perfectly and it got under the nail head with no problem. It touched the cable insulation, but did not penetrate it. I was able to pull the nail right up.

I remember looking skyward and saying "Thank God for small favors".

2. Yes
and I often accompany it with a little "yay for me" song that I invent on the spot.

When I was in my twenties, I ran miles every week, and every mile I clocked off, I'd think: that's another minute added to my life!

I still exercise a lot, and I still think that.

P.S. Try Coke Zero instead of Diet Coke. I'm told the taste is is much closer to "regular" Coke than is Diet Coke.

12. I much prefer Zero to Diet Coke. Alas, it wasn't a choice yesterday.
But I still did it. :) Thanks!

7. You have to.
Right now I am celebrating having cleaned out some bookshelves and selecting a bunch of books to sell to the second-hand bookstore tomorrow. This is something that has needed doing for quite awhile.

8. After going through breast cancer and chemo..
everytime I get a good blood workup from my dr. is a victory, and everything else I celebrate, especially being at the birth of my only grandchild over a year ago. Now, every day is a small victory for me.

9. All the time
What else is life made up of, anyway?

I can't actually say I celebrated throwing out the last piece of apple pie today, but I did it.

10. Yep.
It can be hard to get myself to do things like housekeeping and errands without a verbal prompt because of the executive system dysfunction associated with my Asperger's Syndrome, so every time I do it myself I celebrate a little. :)
