2. Someone on another forum posted a pic of himself with Plant

It was a guitar forum, a thread about "have you ever met anyone famous". It was a personal pic so I don't feel comfortable posting it here. But, suffice to say, I would not have recognized Plant if he hadn't said who it was in the thread.

4. Plant got better looking as he got older but I think he's at the point of no return
Edited on Fri Dec-04-09 05:06 PM by LynneSin
The last 10 years have not bee good. Probably mid-90s was when he looked his absolute best to me - when he was doing that work with Jimmy Page.

Now John Paul Jones - Day-um! The man has aged extremely well. Who would have thought he would turn out to be the hot one when they reached AARP age???!!!

"I bet Page doesn't fit in 28 inch waist jeans any longer"
And she said, "You're such a queen"
She may be right

5. Honestly, Yeah and Nay
The Immigrant Song / Heartbreaker thing at the beginning of the BBC Sessions disc is one of the best things I've ever heard. And I like the Whole Lotta Love Medley on that disc, even though they did steal the song from Willie Dixon.

Misty Mountain Hop has a certain charm.

But a lot of their material is quite self-indulgent and boring, (Just because you've been dazed and confused a long time is no reason to go on and on about it 18 minutes). It's a shame since collectively they're probably the most talented rock band in the history of the fucking universe.

15. Moon was a wild man. Baker was a jazz man.
Bonham was better than both.

13. I saw their show in Tampa in '77 , all 20 minutes of it. Didn't care for
the part where the cops came out, a cappella, and interacted with the audience.

Fook 'em.

16. They cool.
I dislike how some try to classify them as the first heavy metal band. Hard rock? Yes. Heavy metal? Hell no. They deserve a lot more respect that that.

17. I don't hate 'em, but I also cannot muster unconditional love for them
From everything I've read, they pretty much suck as human beings...although I've never really read anything bad about Jones, but I have read plenty about the Diva, the Junkie, and the Thug.

They've recorded some legendary songs, and songs that suck.

They sold one of the legendary songs to Cadillac, so they suck for that.

But the main reason I'm not a big fan of them as human beings is that little incident with one of Bill Graham's employees. That was just chickenshit through and through, no matter how you slice it.

The Oakland incident

In early 1977, Bindon was hired by Peter Grant on advice from tour manager Richard Cole as security co-ordinator for English rock group Led Zeppelin during their concert tour of the United States. He had previously provided security for actors Ryan and Tatum O'Neal. Bindon took his job to the extreme and developing an addiction to cocaine and heroin, during the tour, much violence occurred behind the scenes directed mostly at journalists, bouncers, and concert staff. The band did not realise the extent of what was happening until their concert at the Oakland Coliseum on 23 July 1977, near the end of their US tour. Upon arrival at the stadium, it is alleged that Bindon pushed a member of promoter Bill Graham's stage crew out of the way as the band entered via a backstage ramp. As a result, tension had been simmering between Graham's staff and Led Zeppelin's security team during the day, and as Grant and Bindon were walking down the ramp near the end of the concert, words were exchanged with stage crew chief Jim Downey, which resulted in Bindon knocking Downey out cold <5>.

Just minutes later a separate off-stage incident occurred. Bill Graham's security man Jim Matzorkis was accused of slapping Peter Grant's 11-year-old son Warren for taking a dressing room sign, and the ensuing argument escalated into an all-out brawl. Led Zeppelin's second Oakland show took place only after Bill Graham signed a letter of indemnification, absolving Led Zeppelin from responsibility for the previous night's incident. However, Graham refused to honour the letter and assault charges were laid against Grant, Cole, Bindon, and John Bonham when the band arrived back at their hotel. The four received bail and later pleaded nolo contendere, receiving suspended sentences. Bindon was dismissed by the band and returned to England. Grant later said that allowing Bindon to be hired was the biggest mistake he ever made as manager.<6>
