BUMMER. This California Girl wants to watch snow fall!
Snow is falling (probably) everywhere in the D.C. metro area -- except for Southern Maryland, where I am. I was so looking forward to snow this weekend, even though it wouldn't stick. But no snow here in SOMD.

Bummer.

Is it snowing where you are?

1. My dear Bertha!
It had better not be snowing here! My garden would wither and die...

I'm sorry you're not getting any snow there...

:hi:

35. My sweet Peggy!
The snow level is coming WAY down with this storm; it will definitely be in the foothills, about 2800 ft. So if you're in the hills, heads up!

Don't worry Bertha; you'll be sick of the snow soon enough

2. We've got a light tiny-flake snow here in the Harrisburg, PA area.
The paper said 1-3", but I seriously doubt it will do more than pepper the grass. The streets are just wet.

23. Much better now that I don't have to drive to work in it. I love it
because it seems to calm everything down a little. We were prepared for this - got hot cohcolate, baked stuff, soup, etc. (Dog food, too.)

I'm watching it through the blinds as I'm writing this - really starting to come down heavily, getting colder.

20. Ginger knows how to cuddle up, does he?
Not surprising. Petey does, too. In fact I think it was in the winter - last winter, I think - that he finally learned how to be a lap cat. He starts by sitting on the arm of the chair and making biscuits on my thigh. Then he sits on my right thigh and makes biscuits on my left. Then he finally lays down. He never puts his head down, though, and he never stays for long. I bet his cousin could teach him a thing or two.

You'll see it. I've just been our riding in it. Wet and ridable. Sill I took it easy, which meant not pedalling as hard as usual. So I grew cold. Now sipping a hot vanilla tea.

18. Here in Big Bear Lake, we're expecting as many as 4 feet of snow between tomorrow night and Friday.
Then maybe some more after that. There is a little less than a foot of snow on all north facing slopes and shady spots at the moment, and tomorrow it's going to get HAIRY for the whole week.

I can't wait!

I'm guessing that with the HB avatar, you know where Big Bear Lake is LOL.

I don't ski, but I love to be in lots and lots of snow. Haven't been in that much snow, though, since I left So. California. Last time was a choir retreat in Idylwild. Funny, isn't it?

Enjoy it!!

...this thread and something you said in an earlier thread? Are you near Waldorf? I'm asking because I lived in Waldorf for a while 30 years ago and my SO misspent part of her youth there (I was there for a while misspending mine, too). Now we're both in norcal where-- at least on the coast where we live-- it never snows. :hi:

26. No, but here's something to get you in the mood
Snow Is Falling
by Boris Pasterak

Snow is falling: snow is falling.
Geranium flowers reach
for the blizzard’s small white stars
past the window’s edge.

Snow is falling, all is lost,
the whole world’s streaming past:
the flight of steps on the back stairs,
the corner where roads cross.

Snow is falling: snow is falling,
not snowflakes stealing down,
Sky parachutes to earth instead,
in his worn dressing gown.

As if he’s playing hide-and-seek,
across the upper landings,
a mad thing, slowly sneaks,
Sky creeps down from the attic.

It’s all because life won’t wait,
before you know, it’s Christmas here.
And look, in a minute,
suddenly it’s New Year.

Snow is falling, deeper – deeper.
Maybe, with that same stride
in that same tempo,
with that same languor,
Time’s going by?

Year after year, perhaps,
passing, as snow’s falling,
like words in a poem?
Snow’s falling: snow’s falling.

Snow is falling, all is lost –
the whitened passers-by,
leaves’ startled showing,
the corners where roads cross.

I was outside just a few moments ago having a smoke, and it's sticking.....not the kind of snow you want if you drive frequently...

oh..the sidewalks are quite slippery, but most of them here are cobblestone which is the worst kind
