1. Have you tried humidifiers?
We have two of these (one for the living room & one for our bedroom):

They are lifesavers, and worth every penny, when we are forced to turn on the heater.

Hope you feel better soon.

2. I have yes
and even though I clean it everyday and have a special mold keep away ball, what ever it is called, it still gets a bit moldy, which aggravates that allergy and it isn't very helpful for my asthma. I have been using the vicks waterless vaporizer, and that helps quite a bit. I have been using the NediPot twice a day. I can not take any medicine besides Claritin and saline and its just not cutting it.

I am making an appt next week to see what can be done. I think the next step is sinus surgery, but as was proven by my breast reduction, I am not the best healer.

Anyway, my low friend fix is starting to help, thank god, but that can't be a regular option, for obvious reasons.

Good vibes. Please.

Oh and thanks for the hugs and well wishes. :loveya:

3. Mold is nasty
Check it out~ http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=112011&RN=880

the ones we use kill 99.99% of germs.

A little investment, in a good humidifier, can go a long way!

You're welcome, btw. :loveya:

5. $100 dollar humidifier.....
I need an honest answer, does it really help the sinuses? Is that the kind you have?

I must confess, mine is a cheapo little one. But I have to feel confident it will work pretty well as I have spent so much money this month on frivolous underwear and expensive purses.

thanks for the link, I did save it.

6. You get what you pay for sometimes
Yes, it helps a lot. We used to use a less expensive one too... that's how I know there is a difference.

Guess you'll have to buy one less purse or something! ;-)

10. lol
if it is a good investment I can def make it work, I am not some crazy purse buying manic!! thats why I posted about it, unlike me to dish out that for a purse.

Thanks for the info, I will probably pick one up this week.

4. Try the drug store brand "Sleep Aid" - diphenhydramine - at night.
It is an antihistamine, actually the first of them (circa 1944 or something), commonly marketed as Benadryl but there are a shitload of other brands. The drug store brand will be much cheaper.

It will indeed help you sleep, so be careful using it during the day. That aside, it reduces swelling, and based on the picture that looks like what you need. I've got sinuses from hell. I can take it now during the day without passing out, but that generally isn't the case the first few times you use it (or if you go a long time without touching it).

8. thanks for the suggestion
benadryl ( and its generic friends) and I go waaaaaay back.

That is actually a no no for me as well.

Sometimes I will take Tylenol pm, that is the ingredient in it that puts you to sleep. I have never had a problem taking benydral with my rx meds, but by its very nature, that and other cold/ sinus meds send my heart racing towards 200.

I almost died about a month ago, so its external solutions for the mean time.

19. OLBAS
hebal stuff you can put in hot water and breathe vapors from, or even put in tea or hot water.

Havocdad used it when he was in Europe and swears by it ever since. Pulled it outta the cubboard when I had a KILLER head cold that went to sinus infection. I can't take many meds either, so externals help. This stuff is great and not as irritating as vicks and such. You can also get a little tube inhaler to toss in your purse for sniffing during the day.

Get better.
