Thanks for all the recommendations for cars
We bought our car last night. After extensive consideration, a very in depth analysis of what the budget could bear, approximately 30 test drives, and a whole lot of patience from my boss loaning me a company car, we found that the car most well rounded for our needs seemed to be the Toyota Matrix.

Then after several days of continued looking and test drives, I started doing some research, and rediscovered the Pontiac Vibe. And then found a pretty screaming deal on one that actually appears to be in really good shape. Same car, significantly lower price, plus nominally American? Done.

As per usual, I am possessed of incredible buyers remorse. Anything above 50 cents does that to me. I think of all the ways i could make due without whatever it was, and all the ways things could go wrong.

Plus we got a new cable box, and this one has HD. Watching Food network is now even more disturbing. Go seafood allergy!!

1. Good choice!
I think you'll be extremely happy with your Matrix. Very versatile and economical car.

3. Yeah. Thats what my research turned up
Back when they very first came out, I was looking for a car, and they salesman told me they were the same, excepting a different motor. I couldnt afford one anyway, so I didn't put any more thought into it.

I'm finding they are the same, according to anything I can find. And apparently, the Pontiacs actually have a longer warranty.

Its interesting, getting a pontiac, seeing as my last 2 cars were pontiac. My wife hated both, and it seemed pretty clear that we would never be buying one as a couple. But she chose this one.
