Why it was so easy to hate the Cowboys |
|
they are a classless bunch. Even with out Pacman and TO they still are an easy bunch to hate. I was at the game. In the third quarter right after the Cowboys scored and tied up the game, they were waiting for the commercial to end. While they were waiting Sam Hurd and some of the other boys started taunting the fans with the make some noise motions. They really enjoyed rubbing it in. Of course right after that the Giants answer those taunts with Jacobs having a roughly 80 catch and run for a TD (Which wade phillips challenged because he didn't like it). So all I can say to Sam Hurd and company- CAN YOU HEAR US NOW?

24. Actually it was the media that did that not the Cowboys |
|
but don't let the facts get in your way.
The team that did self-appoint itself "America's Team" was any team out of Atlanta while Turner was still in charge of WTBS. But no one whined about that.

Iwant to see them seriously beaten several more times this season, but then I am an Eagles fan, so it comes natural to me.

I don't know if they Yanks self-appointed themselves like the Cowboys did, but SOMEBODY did. "America's Team"??? Says who? And, as a consequence, all other teams get less air time, because the networks think everyone wants to see the Yankees and Cowboys.

3. They were so classless to Tom Landry and their new stadium is conspicuous consumption at its |
|
taxpayer-funded worst.
At least taxpayers didn't pay for the Redskins shitty stadium, but they did pay for the Ravens' stadium, and the Steelers, and the Cowboys...

13. Football stadiums, because they are used so rarely, are a complete waste. And Art Modell |
|
got an amazing tax-payer subsidized deal in reference to revenue for parking, etc.
But there was always an economic reason football teams played in baseball stadiums, not the other way around.
And the citizens of Pittsburgh and Philly voted against the construction of the stadiums and they were built anyway.

19. Yes, I think the Meadowlands IS the exception because of its location and the absence |
|
of a baseball stadium right next door as in Balt., Philly and Pittsburgh, and Cleveland I think.
But football stadiums just don't pay off. There are not enough Springsteen concerts and tractor competitions to make most work.

he has certainly improved cash flow and kept the team in the headlines. However I have to think the football purists would be unhappy with his unqualified meddling in team operations.

That term used by the team, the media or their fans is so damned arrogant and so thats a huge reason. Plus, for years they knocked the 49ers out of the playoffs..."The Catch" and a few Superbowls, was our vindication! I love it any time the 49ers beat the cowboys.

The Giants's Jacobs did a dance on the Cowboy's star after the first game--that was class?
Puhleese. Athletes are spoiled babies, by and large. They get rich playing a game, they are used to being worshipped, and they grow up expecting the world to let them get away with anything because generally the world does let them get away with everything.

40. You heard what happened when Eli Manning died and went to Heaven, didn't you? |
|
God met him personally, and brought him to his house. "Not many people get a house up here," God told him. "You should feel special."
It was a cute little cottage with a white picket fence, and a New York Giants banner flying from a pole on the roof. Eli smiled, and said "Thank you, God."
But as they were walking away, Eli spotted another house. It was a mansion. 10,000 square feet if it was one. The fence was wrought iron, and each post was tipped with a Cowboys helmet. In each window hung a Cowboys banner, and the largest flag Eli had ever seen flew over the roof of the house--a blue and silver Cowboy's flag.
"Wait a minute," Eli said. "Just wait. Why does Tony Romo deserve a house that big?"
"Oh, that's not Tony Romo's house," said God. "That's my house."
