Faux pas averted.
Last night I asked Mrs. V. if she'd ever heard her folks talk about their memories of Pearl Harbor (she hadn't). My dad was two years old, but he did tell me of his memories of FDR's death.

I just had a thought: Maybe I'll ask my boss, see if he has any memories.

Then I realized my boss had not been born yet.

Note that she didn't say "I realize that my boss had not been born yet."

It's obvious that she's here to enact preemptive vengeance upon us for triggering the supernova that will destroy her homeworld in 100 years or so.

5. I think the problem lies with...
conjugating temporal verbs in the past and possible never tense.
