3. I really want to kill myself every time...
I hear that song.

I seriously want to jump through the radio, and tell that kid to buy his own damn shoes. Don't go begging some poor guy at the checkout counter doing his last-minute shopping to buy your mommy's shoes for you. Your mother would probably be much more appreciative of a picture or something that you drew, not a pair of shoes that she'll probably never wear because she's gonna kick the bucket soon.

7. Genesis - "Supper's Ready"
There are several versions on YouTube, but all in multiple parts (usually three). It is about 26 minutes long and the section done in 9/8 time is incredible.

I saw The Musical Box perform this live a couple years back. They are the only tribute band fully endorsed by all current and past members of Genesis. They also reconstructed The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway with the original slides for the three-screen display (provided by Genesis). They try to achieve as close to an original performance as possible with the same (or as close as possible) equipment and full costumes and props. Amazing shows.

21. Yeah, wow, and that version too.
You Can't Always Get What You Want resonates most deeply with anyone who's lived through that hell, maybe anyone who can imagine it too.

But then there's Bohemian Rhapsody, a fantastic whirlwind of light and dark that tears through everything.

26. The Decemberists - The Tain
Edited on Mon Dec-07-09 02:21 PM by Chan790
I just checked there is no complete version of it on YouTube, probably because they only do it in concert and it's not on any of the widely-produced albums, it was released as a single on a small label. It's also almost 20 minutes long.

It's a complete telling of one of the great myths of western civilization, the Irish myth of Táin Bó Cúailnge or The Cattle Raid of Cooley...the story of the great Irish hero Cú Chulainn who single handedly defeated the forces of Queen Medb, most of the Gods and the most of the entirety of the male population of Connacht...single-handedly, in duels at river-fords.

Never mind, I found it here:

http://pitchfork.com/tv/#/musicvideo/317-the-decemberists-the-tain-kill-rock-stars

Edit: This is kicking Queen's asses right out of the water...there are other mentions in this thread that I think might be comprable but Bohemian Rhapsody isn't one of them.
