Anyone else have that problem?
No matter how hard you try to convince them you truly mean it, your previous sarcastic efforts remain like an aftertaste in the mind of the reader.

I'm so sarcastic with her that it's hard to scold her when I'm serious. I'll be in the middle of a raised-voice lecture, and she'll start smirking. Which makes me smirk... :rofl:

But now I have the same problem with my kids, meaning that I sometimes take them serious when they are being sarcastic. I blame it on my illness and the drugs I have to take. But I am getting better at not getting my feeling hurt as much and laughing it off.

after 12 years of being a sarcastic ass to my friends because I was unhappy with life...now that I've found peace I can't get anybody to believe that I am being serious when I state needs and desires in a straightforward manner.
