Old DU-Timers! Do you ever look back at your old DU posts and see how your life has changed? |
|
This morning World of Warcraft went down early (stupid patch days) so I spent a couple hours on DU reading my past posts.
I read the stories of Mr. McClurkin and Mr. Warren affiliation with Mr. Obama.
I read the stories of Mr. Vick and his dogs.
I read the stories of our old friend Misty who passed away a few years ago.
I read the stories of our new friend, Sadie.
I read the stories of our trials with Bailey.
In short I got to read a part of my life that I had forgotten about. Some of it gave me smiles. Some of it brought tears.
But thanks DU for keeping some of my life alive for me to remember.

1. In general, no. However, I have done so due to prodding from posts made by others n/t |

I have 2 accounts.
My 80's are:
Aerach - Druid (Resto/Boomkin) Eradak - Shaman (Elemental) Ballamore - Paladin (Protection) Abgar - Hunter (Beast Mastery) Klobar - Rogue (Combat) Sarama - Priest (Shadow)
I think that's all of them. I lose track.

5. Holy cow - that's a lot of time investment in that many 80s! |
|
I just have one level 80 - a druid (also resto/Boomkin).
I'm working on a warrior (level 29), death knight (65) and warlock (12).
I really like the druid, though, so I still play him a lot, thus keeping the others from going up in levels very quickly. Oh, well! I just really love the druid. I also use him to help out the lower level folk in my guild - we only have two level 80s right now.
I'm in Grizzly Hills. Too bad we aren't in the same realm - would be fun to play together!

I have a level 80 resto/elemental Shaman, and I'm working on a druid who will be a bear/tree.
Happy playing! :)

4. It is like a living journal, isn't it? |
|
I've looked back over my time here sometimes, though not lately. I was very sad when I first came here because I felt so alone in the way I thought about the world. DU has been a joy and comfort in that way.

ALL the time...
I have a lot of archived threads, and some days I love to wander down those pathways...
Sometimes I smile, sometimes I weep...
This is an amazing place to have...

10. I read my old posts sometimes. |
|
The stories are secondary to just the overall feeling I get from reading through them. I find it striking how different a 16 year old's perspective and a 22 year old's perspective are on matters. Even an 18 year old's and a 22 year old's. Not to make myself sound like a grandma, but looking back and reading my posts really shows me that I had a lot of positive traits that I could never see in myself at that age. I had an idea in mind of what I could do with a little ambition. Over the years I worry some of those positive traits have been lost. You know how they say the spark is gone? My spark isn't gone, I'm still quite young, but in recent years it may have faded. I've only just recently begun to get that feeling back, the feeling of being a single person who can still make an impact on something.

I first registered here in 2005 under a different username. It's weird going back and looking at all of my old posts, at how my life has changed.
