The Holiday Parking Lot Loonies are out
:eyes:

So I was out shopping today and cruising through one of those lots that have the angled spaces with two-way traffic. Saw a car pulling out ahead of me so I pulled into the space. There was an SUV coming from the other direction which I sort of but not really noticed but as soon as I was parked, the driver stopped right behind me and honked so I knew she had been planning on pulling in (the wrong way since she was on the other side - which is why I hadn't really noticed her).

She waited until I got out of the car and said, "I take it you didn't see that I was going to pull into that spot?!"

I said mildly, "No, I didn't" and began walking toward the store. She paced me in her vehicle, backing up.

"That's why I was waiting."

Now at this point, I considered changing my demeanor, abruptly and briskly walking toward her vehicle and saying, "Okay, hop out and we'll wrestle for it." I figured that would end the conversation quickly, with her hurriedly rolling up the window and locking all the doors but I didn't feel like it. :)

So I said, "Oh," wondering what she expected me to do - get back in the car and move it for her?

"That's why I honked at you," she continued.

"I didn't see your name on it, dear," I said gently, though I admit patronizingly.

"Well, I was waiting!"

At this point, I realized I was walking past an empty space (the lot was not even remotely full - she could have parked 10 times by this time) so I said brightly, "Oh, look! Here's an empty one even closer!"

She just snarled, "You need to go away now," (as if I were the one chasing a perfect stranger around a parking lot) and pulled into it.

1. Well, you live in the polite section of town. Here, they just pull out a
gun, and shoot. dc

2. she needed to joust a bit - it's crazy how people think that sort of thing is
worth a confrontation. It's a parking space, for heaven's sake...

3. I couldn't help wondering what she wanted me to do
Get back into my car and pull out so she could have it? That wasn't going to happen.

And I have gotten irritated when people have deliberately charged in front of me to grab a spot that I was obviously going to pull into (not enough to confront them but enough to get irritated) but this wasn't one of those situations. It was just bizarre. Put a smile on my face bizarre though. :)

4. I think some people are just bullies and they want to see if they can get their
way!
