Who knows from RAW video files? I have... |
|
a DVD recorder that works great recording from air or cable, but apparently records in RAW format. I have two DVD drives on my WinXP computer, but both of them show the disks as full and/or inacessable.
Burned through a few search engines trying to figure this out, but only found people asking the same questions and getting no answers.

are you recording directly to DVD in a standalone recorder box or are you recording to the hard drive and burning the DVD?
if you're using one of those DVD recorder boxes you hook up to the TV cable then you've got a proprietary piece of shit.
RAW files are essentially videos in a non-portable data format. it works like a data disk with an open session. you can only read it on the drive it was originally burned on with a program (or a machine) capable of reading a RAW file.
the only way i can think of to get around it is to find a DVD recording program for your computer that can read RAW files. but that may not even work.

which doesn't bother me all that much since the disks are cheap enough and I'm not recording anything that earthshaking. I was just kinda hoping someone would know of something that would let the DVD drives read the things.
I've got workarounds if I really, really feel like editing or making copies.
