I saw something disgusting in print today: "Texas Fish Tacos" |
|
Ordinarily, it wouldn't have bothered me. But I had an unavoidable mental image of the shrub grabbing a raw fish and saying, "Now some people like ta cook 'em, but I like 'em raw. Right out ah the oil-slicked Gulf. Them's good eats."
I bet the feed corn farmers are still laughing about his raw corn incident.

1. Eh, is it the Texas part, the FISH part, or the TACO part that rankles?!1 |

I'll just address the taco part. When the Earl of Sandwich asked for a piece of something packed into a bread, he created the concept of the EDIBLE CONTAINER. I say "concept" because probably the PRACTICE was likely around from the dawn of various species.
Grape leaf, corn husk, wraps, buns, tortillas, pitas(?) (I'm running out my culinary cred---down to the TACO end of things: tortillas---- All containers for edible insides...

4. Actually some fish tacos sound real good right now |
|
I prefer Baja style with the shredded cabbage and that awesome white sauce, but the traditional taco treatment (Lettuce, tomato, cheese and some pico or Tapatio) washed down with a coupla Shiners would fit the bill nicely.
Mmmmm!
You're right, he doesn't sound very Tejano to me either!

5. I haven't touched any kind of fish in almost 20 years, and no land-based meat in longer. |
|
The fish thing was a combination of it not looking or smelling like food anymore (I see cat food), and one of the last things was a batch of some stanky crabs. Some smelled of ammonia, others of petroleum, and some were too disgusting for words. I couldn't eat them - AND I GREW UP EATING CRABS!
