1. Can you convert those to DVD files? |
|
I can convert anything to AVI, but YouTube is kicking my ass on converting their vids to video to make DVDs out of, at least as far as syncing the video and audio go.

2. There are quite a few free apps (and some plugins for firefox) |
|
To convert flash videos (flv) to just about anything you want.
The program I linked to can convert them to just about anything, then you just need another program to convert them to the video format you want.

3. YouTube adds a different extension on their vids. |
|
At least the ones I want. They add an "ob!" to the end of the flv file that is fucking up all my efforts to put these vids on DVD with sound that is synchronized. I'll blow the first person to solve this for me.
Well, not really, but I may give them some heavy petting.... :)

4. Well, what format/extension is it that you want them in? |
|
Can probably help you if I know. I just converted some youtube ones to a format that my daughter's mp3 player likes (plays mp3's and videos).

6. I downloaded a bunch of vids.... |
|
All by one band, naturally....
All of them have the extension of ob! on them. I have three different programs to convert them but none of them do a thing with these vids. I'm fairly wise in the way of these things, but no matter what format I convert these too (AVI, Mpeg, DVD Video) the sound and vid are totally out of sync. I have no problems with vids from any other source, and I know it's the ob! extension because the FLV files play perfect by themselves on the PC. I can burn them as a vid, but the sound and video are so out of sync it's not worth it.
All I want is to convert them to a DVD friendly format so I can watch them on my tv instead of the PC. I do this stuff all the time, but this one is kicking my ass.

Have you tried the plugin for firefox? It is called download helper. Worth a try.

The problem is with the conversion process, not on the download end. I've tried DH to no avail. I've scoured forums and anything you can think of to solve this, with no luck (not the end of the world...I just burned the flv files to a disc so at least I have them for any future purposes). I have a best friend who does this stuff for a living and even he hasn't solved it yet. It's an ass-kicker. :)
