The real moment of class comes at the end of the clip when one of the 'roid rage douchebags in the cast punches a female member of the cast in the face, HARD.

What the fuck is WRONG with the world, that this kind of shit becomes a "TV show?"

Don;t watch the clip unless you want to get pissed off and / or offended.

1. I watched about ten minutes of the first show.
I hated every character that was introduced -- especially the guys.

What a bunch of dickheads.

8. that's the point!
honestly, i loved it. mildly entertaining. might be because some of them are my age (22) and the other part is i grew up in a tourist town that would be overrun with these very same people from Staten Island, NJ, etc. they'd get drunk and start fights outside of bars, the whole nine yards. gelled hair, fake tan, big boobs. most of them aren't even FROM the shore.

i'm not usually the person who slows down in traffic to watch other people's car wrecks, but i feel like it watching this show.

I floated around the Bay Ridge/Staten Island party scene back in the 70s... these kids are the kids of these people from back in the hood and the day:

Chicks: big hair, big jewelry, gold name plate, spiky 4" heels, full battle dress Rockette makeup 24/7.

Guys: blow-dry sculpted Work of Art, big jewelry, black Trans Am with pounding 8-track, getting drunk and starting fights outside of bars.

I am so loving every minute of Jersey Shore.

And I watched the whole season of the Hills this year, so you know I have no small tolerance for dumb trashy spoiled whores and their pointless lives.

Wow, those people were...um...wow. I don't even have the words. But I couldn't watch them for more than 45 minutes. The accents alone made my ears bleed.

3. I hate to split hairs, and
I'm embarrassed that I might actually know this, but I don't think the dude who punches the girl is one of the house mates, I think he's just some fucking douchebag.

I get the whole "it takes all kinds" thing.... but sometimes I'm just sad. No wonder the world thinks we're a bunch of pathetic jerk offs. I know that kind of thing happens everywhere, but leave it to us to put it up on the fucking airwaves, so it can become a part of history forever.

I'm off to bed, on that depressing note.

in this world, in the year 2009, that stil behave like this and dress like this and speak like this.

Jersey kids are fucking weird!!! One of the chicks wants a "Jersey Guido"???

But, the show is quite comical.

What guy spends 30 minutes on his hair? As the Jersey kids would say...Are You Kidding Me?

To my utter fucking horror there are girls really into it, I guess the only good thing I can say about them is they don't paint themselves orange.

9. OMG...one of the funniest things I have ever seen.
NOT the girl getting punched in the face part. But the rest of the clip. I don't watch these shows regularly, but like with this and Tool Academy, I love laughing at fake tanned, roided out douchebags making fools of themselves.

10. The "puncher" is NOT one of the "house guidos"...
He's not one of the guys profiled in the Jersey Shore House.

Apparently, Italian American groups are protesting
this show LOUDLY.

My kids and I are getting a kick out of the "slice of life"
it shows. What I love about it is how much they admire themselves,
unapologetically. They all believe that they are at the top
of the food chain. I admire that!

Plus, it has given me my new introduction line when I meet
people...

"Don't let the hair fool you, I ain't no bitch!"

13. The problem here is with the "reality" part, not the morality. Please let me rant a bit.
Edited on Fri Dec-11-09 01:16 PM by Demoiselle
Remember, most of us adored a TV series set in Jersey that made the people in the Jersey Shore series look like Mother Theresa and her sisters.
I'm talking, of course, about the Sopranos. Those people were thugs and murderers. A Mother From Hell. (NOT Carmela!) A lead character who took a little time off while driving his daughter on a college tour to kill a former colleague. And so on. But those beloved Soprano thugs had WRITERS. Writers who thought about character--its revelation and development. Writers who could PLOT stories. And the Sopranos were played by actors with talent...the kind of talent that reaches out to us and teaches us what it's like to be human, warts and all. In other words, ART happened.
I hate reality television. It puts total schnorers out there in front of us...people who barely deserve to be in a snapshot, let alone a television series. Why? Because the honchos who make brazillions of dollars on this shit don't have to pay writers, or actors, or directors. For our time, we get nothing, but a car wreck to watch. And even then, it's a badly staged car wreck. If you want to see a great STAGED car wreck, check out that BBC drama "Collision."
I inadvertently tuned in to Jersey Shore last night, thinking it was an honest to god comedy/drama. I lasted 2 minutes.
I hate hate hate reality TV.
Thank you. That is all.

14. Our buddies at the Parents Television Council named the premiere "Worst Cable Content of the Week"
And because Youtube robotically removes pretty much all Viacom-owned videos, they've gotta clip for you

(The URL will change soon, watch out...)

17. Alyssa Milano complained about the show because of its stereotyping.
One of the cast members responded that guidos are just very attractive people who want to have fun.

Except these girls are UGGGGLY. I wouldn't fuck them with Reagan's zombie dick.

18. Except the "guidos" are nothing but stupid douchebags.
I find it extraordinary that morons would seek to live up to a douchebag stereotype to begin with. Nevermind aspiring to be a douchebag and then having that played out on tv.

19. It's because some do find it hot.
Look at the photos you can find online. Many of the guys are with attractive women. I don't get it.

These women, though, aren't very attractive. :/
