CMW is enjoying his Christmas* gift as I type this.
It arrived much sooner than I had expected and--poor CMW--he had to come up with money to tip the UPS guy who had trouble finding our house**.

Go ahead, y'all, ask him what it is, and spank him if he doesn't give props to Rabrrrrrr for the positive reviews that in large part helped him decide what he really wanted for Christmas.

*We don't really do Christmas in the traditional US sense.
**And what the heck is up with a package from Delaware (ordered yesterday via Amazon) arriving at 5:30 tonight already???? That's FAST!

6. He was nice. Called us twice, and came here twice.,
It's not easy to find our place, and I imagine he has a family he wanted to get home to. It's not his fault the houses in our neighborhood are illogically numbered.

P.S.

2. I'm going to move to Switzerland and become a UPS guy
UPS guys around here don't get jack for tips. And evidently they are pissed about it because they never get out of the truck to deliver your package anymore. They just launch the thing from their truck and bounce it off your front door. They must have heard about the Swiss UPS drivers and got jealous.

What'd you get Wes?!

5. Well, this guy probably went away unhappy.
I had only CHF 50 in my wallet and a buncha change, so I gave CMW CHF 7 (about $7) to tip the guy, and that's less than he deserved, having driven around our neighborhood in the dark, looking for our weirdly numbered house.

By the way, this guy didn't get outta the truck either, but it was COLD and he'd already been here once, soooooo.

The essentials for every driver.

I was just yanking your chain. ;)

10. I know, Tobin!
I just feel bad I didn't have any smaller bills for his tip. He tried really, really hard, and was very friendly when he finally found the place. Not as cute as US UPS drivers, but very, very patient.

A portable book download machine?

21. Wow! I think I might have to have one of those, too.
1500-3500 books depending on which size you get. I probably haven't read 1500 books in my life, although I have started to read a lot more recently. I wonder if you can get more obscure and non-fiction books.

23. In Europe, I can only get the smaller one.
I had around 3,000 books at the age of twenty, and since then continuously given them away to charities because I just hadn't the storage space anymore. I keep the books that really mean something to me, and it's still taking up a lot of space. So this device comes in pretty handy. I'll still buy books, of course.

Search through the amazon.com books for Kindle and see if you find the ones you want. They have about 30,000 right now, plus a lot of free ones. :hi:

That IS weird. I didn't spank him, though. He's not into that and I'm too lazy for it, truth be told.

15. Thanks a lot for giving HerrHerr more ideas!
He got a Xbox 360 and that was supposed to be his "only" Christmas present and now the greedy sob wants a Kindle.

Your mail sure moves quicker over there.

Merry Christmas to you and Call Me Wesley. :hi:

19. Happy Holidays!
Edited on Thu Dec-10-09 04:00 PM by Call Me Wesley
Just tell Mr. HerrHerr that he can't read and play at the same time, so why waste the precious game time with reading some boring stuff? That's what TV is for, anyway!

The only thing I don't like is the restricted amount of books I can order, and nothing yet in German, but this may perhaps change in the future.

:hi:

22. Happy Holidays to you and Heide too!
Or as Bill O'really would have us say it his way "Merry Christmas and Jesus loves you."

HerrHerr works for a publishing company that deals with multi-media; video games, movies, music, you name it. He brought home 7 free videos today...4 South Park seasons, two Xbox360 games and some other shit. Even though he is good at multi-tasking, I told him no fucking way on the Kindle.

I'm sure the German versions of books will slowly start to trickle in. It seems to take a long time though.
