Please help me with the PC / Internet Explorer problem
Hello DU. Last night I was surfing the net when a IE window popped up. It said that some program was trying to access my pc. It asked if I wanted to allow once, allow always, block once, block always.
Since I didn't know what the program was, I "blocked always". I was able to continue surfing and had no problems.
My girlfriend just called me and told me that the internet was not working.
She too had "blocked always" this window. She thinks that this action is causing the internet not to work on our PC.
We have a laptop that is able to get the internet. But the PC is not working.
Anyone have a suggestion?

1. At least on IE 7, go to Tools->Internet Options in the menu.
If you don't see a menu, hit the ALT key. Under Internet Options, there are tabs along the top. The third one is "Privacy" and there's a button on it labeled "Sites". Click that and it will bring up a window with a box at the bottom called "Managed Sites". If you can figure out what you blocked that you shouldn't have, click on it and hit "Remove". If you don't have a lot of things in the list, you can try using "Remove All", but that will put you back to square one.

After you get IE working, download Firefox from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/personal.html and life will get better.

6. I would suggest you download Firefox with your laptop, put it on a flash drive,
transfer it to the PC you are having problems with, install it, and see if you can get online that way. That way you will know if it is IE or something else that is the problem.
